GW Fic: Freeport, Chapter 32

Nov 07, 2005 08:46

Holy power cuts, Batman! This was supposed to get posted yesterday, but the shocking, incongruous, unique event of a few inches of snow apparently threw my local electricty board for a loop. I live in Alberta, Canada; we never have snow here!! The electrons in the high tension lines must be all in a panic ( Read more... )

Meat hooks?! Eep! You know, I kinda like Mako. There's something about his attitude that just draws me in. I wish we knew a bit more about him, but not in an "I want you to write it" way. ^_^

It's so good to see more of this fic, since I know that Naruto has eaten your brain like it has everyone elses. (This is NOT a complaint. It ate mine too. ^_^;) I can't wait for more, even though it saddens me to know we're near then end. Ah well, such is the way of all good things.

(I made this icon specifically for Merula's fics, but I suppose it can be used for yours just as well in most cases. ::grin::)

Naruto has eaten my brain, chained me to my keyboard, and frequently pokes me with a cattle prod. But I'm glad I was able to get this FP chapter out, and that it zinged as much as I hoped it would ^_^ (it's sometimes hard to know if it 'works' when you're writing and rewriting every sentence, you lose the flow)

Mako gets a slightly bigger scene in the next chapter; he and Ravachol have a story behind them, but yeah, Naruto is dragging me off again. And this time, he's got handcuffs ^^;

Excellent chapter, as always. I love the world you've set up w/ Freeport, it feels so real. The detail about the crowd being silent where one expected a riot was nice.

I especially liked the Wufei correcting Morgenstern on "traditions" vs. "rules"

Minor note that was probably intentional but AC 195 was the year the war started. Episode zero has AC 187 as the year the church burned. It also gives the death total as 245 (though I liked your touch of the seminary students which is totally plausible b/c it doesn't say anything about who died, just the total). Bigger death count gives it a bit more of a punch.

But I loved Duo's interruption. Also thought it was interesting what he and Wufei have and haven't shared as far as details about their past went.

*hunches down to wait for more*

Eeep, put down the wrong date! Thanks!

I didn't know there was a total body count in the end. Duo's main concern here is with the innocent who are always the victims of this sort of talk.

Glad you liked the chapter ^_^ It had a lot of talk and details, I was afraid it would be a bit dragging.

"Now is the time to-"
"Burn churches."
... *worships*
That line was so incredibly perfect. The speeches, the atmosphere, all of it - perfection. You do such a wonderful job of crafting the entire society so it's believable. The characters, their motivations... gah. I'm incoherent. You're amazing.

Glad you liked it ^_^ Particularly that 'burn churches' line, because that had the potential of falling a bit flat ^^; But it seems to have gone over as well as I hoped it would, a sharp slap after Morgenstern's clarion-like sentences. Yeah, don't mess with the Gundam Pilots, old man! They've seen worse than you and eaten them for breakfast! *gets all worked up*

Nnnnguuuuh....!! I was having the shittiest morning, but having this to read kinda makes up for it! And I totally agree, Duo's "Burn Churches." line is unbelieveably perfect. I can't wait to read the next chapter!!

Glad I pepped up your morning! I'm glad everybody liked that Burn churches line. It was one of those 'make or break' lines that either works real well...or doesn't :P

Lol, methinks the squeee turned into an 'urg- meathooks?!' at the end. Or it should have if I wrote that chapter correctly ^_^
