Dear Subscribers,

Well, it's New Year's Eve, and it should be no secret where I am: at home, watching TV. Actually, I'm fairly disappointed with the quality of the programming tonight. Not a single decent marathon other than the usual Twilight Zone. To give you an idea of what I have to work with, these are some of the TV show marathons I have to choose from:
channel 16 (USA): Law & Order: Criminal Intent
channel 17 (Sci-Fi): the aforementioned Twilight Zone
channel 18 (Bravo): Kathy Griffin specials (seriously)
channel 19 (Vh1): America's Next Top Model
channel 20 (MTV): A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila (seriously!)
If I can make it to 1 a.m., channel 21 (PBS) is showing a bunch of Monty Python specials, but it's hard going until that point. I ended up just putting on my Muppet Show DVDs and making my own marathon, which has been quite enjoyable so far and I'm kind of looking forward to getting back to it. Also, it should go without saying that I'm drinking single malt scotch at the moment. Happy new year, everyone.

Anyway, as years go, 2007 could have been worse. I finally graduated from college, 10 years after I started. I spent all my money travelling through North America for 35 days... but it was all absolutely worth it. I met a lot of cool people. I had some good times. No one I care about died. My mom's mom turned 80 and my dad's dad turned 90. I unintentionally lost some weight and then unintentionally gained it back. I was unemployed for months, and then worked in retail for the first time in my life, and it wasn't so bad. My best friend broke my heart. I reconnected with other friends from years ago. Someone told me they never want to see me or talk to me again. I saw a few good concerts. I played a lot of point-and-click adventure games from the nineties. To answer a question from those memes that pop up at this time of year: the songs that will always remind me of 2007 are the new Maroon 5 song and that goddamn Plain White T's song (because they followed me around the country to the point of torture). My favorite albums from this year were by the Pipettes, Fountains of Wayne and Rufus Wainwright.

I was going to edit this post down, but now I'm lazy and want to get back to TV. So -- I apologize for the length. Now I'm going to watch a couple of Flight of the Conchords episodes On Demand, watch the ball drop or whatever and then get back to the Muppets, and then play Monkey Island 3 until I fall asleep. Happy 2008.

Cheers,
Lisa
