IP MAN 2

I just had what may have been the greatest theatrical experience of my life to date. We went to the Metro in the U-District to see Wilson Yip & Donnie Yen's latest, Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster. The movie itself? Pretty meh. Given my love for Wilson Yip's body of work, the fact that he has of late degenerated into making shitty blockbusters is rather depressing. That said, Mister Twister really is the great character find of 2010. And Sammo Hung is still always awesome. But the reason why it was so awesome? For the first time ever, they threw a movie and nobody else came.

So Christine, Chase, Tommy, Christy & I sat in the fifth row and had a private showing of Ip Man 2 that was basically the same as one of our movie nights only with less beer and a much, much bigger screen. So awesome.

Also, I just found out about the existence of Sucker Punch. Zack Snyder made me a movie: I can finally stop feeling guilty about watching trashy nonsensical Asian films because somebody made one with white people!
