Malcolm - call your agent...papajoemamboMay 5 2005, 21:09:39 UTC
Seriously Dude, this is big:
BLADE MOVES TO TELEVISION
"Spike TV will adapt the theatrical franchise Blade, based on the Marvel Comics vampire hunter, as a two-hour, television pilot movie in early 2006.
The announcement was made by Spike TV President Doug Herzog. Blade is Herzog's first original scripted programming announcement since he took over the network earlier this year.
"The action-adventure genre is largely ignored in today's television landscape, and we know it is something that our male viewers really want," said Herzog. "Blade is a great movie franchise with an established brand that men already recognize and identify with."
Here's how Spike TV describes the television Blade:
"Blade is the unforgettable legend of an immortal warrior who battles a thriving underworld of vampires seeking to decimate the human race. Half man and half vampire, Blade uses his fierce powers and skills to fearlessly battle the demonic creatures of the night and carry on a blood-drenched crusade to prevent the ascendance of vampires over mankind."
Blade is Marvel's oldest and most prolific film franchise to date. The three Blade films starring Wesley Snipes -- Blade, Blade II and Blade: Trinity -- have earned more than $400 million worldwide.
Snipes recently sued New Line over disputes with his role in Blade: Trinity, and it is unclear if he will be involved in the television series.
Blade will be produced by New Line Television and Marvel Studios. David Goyer, who wrote all three Blade films and produced and directed Blade: Trinity, will be executive producer of the television series.
Attempts to reach Marvel Studios executives for comment were unreturned."

JOSEPH,
Many thanks for those lilting links, lovingly laid out online! (Full props to STAN “THE MAN”!)
I left a message with my agent about BLADE™ (for which, much thanks, also!), but he did not respond (which is typical of him whenever I provide him with near-exclusive intel), so I just got off the blower with him about it minutes ago, & he said that not only had he not only never heard of it, but that he wanted me to disclose my source.
I suspect that I shall have to go directly to MR. DAVID GOYER if I am to have a chance @ BLADE: THE SERIES™....
