... instead of rants.
The winter here is on and off, where the weather will get warm then snow the next day. I demand the weather acts more consistant! This has resulted in a varied week wear wardrobe, with flipflops and skirts to down jackets and scarves. Boo. I want the dead cold to go away already. It's not even beautiful here in the winter, as there's no snow or ice covered trees. Just a terrible wind that gives me a headache and freezes my feet. If it everything was covered in snowdrifts and fat snowflakes, then BE MY GUEST, snow! The snow in upstate new york would squeak when you walked, and here, if there is any snow, it's a fat splash. Boo, i repeat. I do wish I made more of the winter and went snowboarding but I can't find my boots and my parents insist that they're not at home on long island. I remember learning to snowboard (which wasn't long ago) and how great it was to just be out at night on an empty mountain, but when i looked here, all the places are about 1.5 hours away so it'd be more like snowboarding, during the day, with people everywhere and screaming kids and lines.
ANYWAY, something exciting was in february i went to new york and saw chinese new year, and interestingly enough, I had noodles. Well, that's not that exciting. Not exciting unless in these noodles you could get your choice of tongue, pig's blood (solidfied into cubes), various animal hooves and feet, ox tails and so much more! I opted for the very cowardly vegetarian noodles in broth AND IT WAS STILL DELICIOUS. There are a lot of different food choices here and I do feel like I've eaten across a very broad and delicious spectrum, but when pressed for my "favorite" type of food, it's hard to say ... not because "oooo i have too many favorites" but more that I don't know what it's called. As for example, my friend from work is vietnamese and thusly she likes vietnamese food and stated so, which i think tastes like crap, and is consistantly spicy and unappetizing. So then, what do i like? Uhh. Nothing specifically made with genitals, or boiled in superhot-you-want-die spices. Additionally, I don't like curry. But wait! I dont want to sound boring, and I want to say that i like all those trendy ethnic foods like thai or indian or ethopian ... like an early 20 year old living in a city should say. But really, I like regional american. If i'm in maine, i get lobster. delicious! If i'm on long island, i get fish (which is obviously not from long island ... that's just gross) if i'm in maryland, i get crab, georgia, bbq etc etc etc. Still kind of boring compared to something like "vindaloo" (which i've had and not a fan) or "blahmeh" (which I will have on occasion). Regardless, that is my food answer and I'm sticking to it.
