Money Woes

They cut our hours at work again, and I got my paycheck today, and it was $140. I think that's hilarious, because that's not even enough to pay bills, put aside for rent, and buy food for myself and also buy cat food (Bella is not amused, but for right now she still has some cat food left, so I'm trying to figure something out). Trying not to ( Read more... )

I am totally going to stop complaining about our household budget now. It's tight, but you made in this last paycheck only about 10 percent of what we spend just on goddamn student loans each month, so obviously I am doing Just Fine Thx.

Anyway, we are not so low on funds that I can't find $100 or so to help send you to the conference, if that helps. You can pay me back when hours pick up at work again, or by posting copious pictures of said conference and an exhaustive discussion about how much fun you had. :) Let me know.

That would be awesome. The scary thing is, I don't know if hours are going to pick up at work...even during the holiday season, people were only getting three days a week, and that's our busiest season. The economy in Big Rapids is so tanked that Dominos just closed last week, and they were one of our busiest pizza places, so things must be pretty tight. But I plan on taking lots of pictures and writing an exhaustive post when I get back. I've really been looking forward to this conference even though I was scared I wouldn't get to go. I learn so much every time I go that my brain nearly explodes with new knowledge of things I never considered before.

I drove (okay, rode) through Iowa when Dad and I went to Yellowstone in 1992. It is flat. Also, corn.

I'm sure you already told me this, but: when is the conference?

It's February 10, 11, and 12. I am stoked. It's a good thing I had already used your gift to pay for the conference, because with the stupid money shit that came up in the past few days I definitely would have been tempted to cancel my conference ticket and use the money to pay bills or something, but I think this conference will be all kinds of good for me. I really need a mental break. DSAGA meetings recharge me so much that they help me get through the rest of the week, and this conference is like a thousand DSAGA meetings crammed into one. Thank you again.

I have never been to Iowa but I hear tell about the cornfields. Any horror movies that has a scene with people running through cornfields is ten times scarier for me, because I got lost when I was a kid in a corn field, and that was just one of those rinky dink Michigan cornfields. A HUGE OMGCORNFIELD like the ones in Iowa? You don't stand a chance against whatever monster is chasing you.
