People and their Goddamn Self-righteous Indignation
If I were simply a customer who shopped at a store called Meijer, I would want to hear, from someone who worked there, that the store had bigoted, racist, and homophobic employees, management, and practices. This wouldn't mean that I would STOP shopping at the store, but I would want to hear, from someone who knew the truth, what the store was really like. So I could be informed. Because I give a flying FUCK about how businesses treat their employees and how certain businesses who appear to do a lot of good can have a lot of corruption underneath the surface.
This is all to say that if someone who worked at said store started to tell me about these racist, homophobic, and bigoted events and practices, I would close my fucking mouth and LISTEN to what the employee was saying. I would not spend ten minutes ARGUING with this employee that "Meijer supports Michigan businesses" and "we shop there to support Michigan" and "You need to realize how BAD Walmart is and we CARE about the economy in this state and we want to HELP and you don't see what you're saying and I know everything and you know NOTHING MUAH HAHAHAHA blah blah blah blah blah."
I UNDERSTAND everything you are trying so badly and self-righteously to spew all over me. What YOU don't seem to understand is that I'm simply trying to inform you of something you obviously don't know/don't care about that is going on in the company you seem to love so much. I know more than you know about THAT because I work in said company, and I used to think they were great and awesome and puddle fucking wonderful too, until I started working there and realized how badly they treat their employees and how corrupt they can be. I know how bad Walmart is but I shop there sometimes because they sell some things that are CHEAPER and I am POOR and thus need this low price in order to get items I need to survive. When people tell me how bad Walmart is I don't spend ten minutes arguing them into the ground because I KNOW how bad Walmart is. I just want them to understand that Meijer is bad TOO, and Meijer does a lot of bad things that no one seems to know about because no one talks about how bad Meijer can be, and I want to spread the word that the moral superiority you feel when shopping at Meijer is based on a basic ignorance of the evil things they do every day. I'm not telling you what to do, I[m telling you what is going on so you can make a more informed decision.
I don't need you shoving a Meijer logo up my ass and cheering the store on with all your sis-boom-BAH when I'm about to go spend an eight hour shift there hearing racist, sexist, and homophobic nastiness spew out of the mouths of EVERYONE on staff, including the managers, and I've been going through pure HELL there for the past three years but I can't find ANOTHER job because the economy in Michigan IS so bad and I'm lucky to find work even HERE at Meijer and I know that.
