werk and other torturous exercises

Well, I had a huge blowout with my crazy cunt co-worker last night. I spent an hour pulling out the load with three other people while she dicked around and pulled her pet food out and didn't help us, and then after I've finished pulling out all the skids and I've been in my first area stocking for 30 minutes, she stomps up to me like a madwoman ( Read more... )

i am going to die, mental illness, dead, werk

Your boss is mentally ill. Your coworker threatened your life. In front of customers. That kind of hostility needs to be dealt with in no uncertain terms.

Agreed. Now we need to move to an alternate dimension where my boss doesn't ignore things like this, and where HIS boss doesn't ignore things like this, and where HIS boss doesn't ignore things like this, and where I didn't get put on a one day suspension for "insubordination" for going over his head the last time she threatened me.

Conclusion: Michigan is an "at will hire" State, so they can fire you for pretty much anything, and Meijer isn't nearly as scrupulous as everyone thinks it is.

Considering that you already identify as gay, if you've ever been diagnosed with a mental disorder, you could get them charged with a hate crime for harassing you. Yeah, you might still get fired, but at least you'd have the satisfaction of rubbing their noses in their own shit. If it really hits the fan, contact the ACLU.

Ok, send me the money to pay the lawyer's fees and I'll get right on it. As soon as I buy toilet paper for this month.

You're right, it's probably not worth it because you could always just find another job where they'd treat you better. I was just pointing out how totally in the wrong they are. I wonder if you would feel more at home at a job that leant a little more to the abstract, like a coffee shop, niche book shop, art store, or some sort of alternative store like a hole-in-the-wall used music shop. It may be different in your experience, but I've noticed that people who work in those kinds of places tend to be more accepting of alternative lifestyles and abstract thinkers. Corporations tend to be notorious for abusing employees who don't make salary.

I know how totally in the wrong they are. Read my comment to Tina below, it's all small town politics. And it's NOT easy to find another job where they'd treat me better. The economy is in the shitter and half the people in this town are unemployed and the last time I was unemployed it took me three months to find a job and it was hell. This is Big Rapids, we don't have "niche shops." We have Meijer and Walmart.

Now that sucks, yo. Wal-Mart is terrible to their employees and apparently Meijer isn't that much better.

Meijer isn't better AT ALL. Pound for pound, Walmart treats their employees better (at least in Big Rapids and Evart). People always say that they shop at Meijer because the Meijer corporation makes a huge deal about "giving to the community" and "helping charity" and "standing for equality" but if you look at their actual day to day practices and how they treat their employees, they're much worse than Walmart (at least in this town and the surrounding area; no idea about other places, but Meijer is only in the Midwest and they only stretch out as far as Kentucky). It's bad, but it's not as widely reported because Meijer is a smaller company. Even now, if you visit Michigan, you'll hear people rabidly defending Meijer and talking about how "humanitarian" they are, and I used to believe the bullshit until I started working here and saw how it actually is. I don't want to sound like I'm arguing with you, I just get heated about this issue because I constantly have to argue with people who prattle on about how Meijer is so much ( ... )

We don't have a Meijer here, so I have no idea. All I ever hear about is how horrible Wal-Mart is. It's probably closer to the truth that all corporations are evil, soul-sucking monsters to everyone who doesn't make over $100,000 a year and has brain enough to see it.

Agreed. Also, I want that on a T-shirt.
