Summary: Akinari's in a grumpy mood and Sasuke's gone to try and make him feel better.

Akinari had been trying to get changed to a different room - he did not want to share a space with someone who had attacked him and showed no remorse for doing so.

The man hadn't even talked to him since. The wound on his throat ached and - frankly - he was scared of Cornell now. He would never, ever admit it to anyone, but... it gave him nightmares. Which was why he spent most of his time in the night room, if possible.

When the knock came, he figured it was one of the nurses coming to check on him. "It's open."

At the sound of the other's voice, he reached out and carefully opened the door, peering in then stepping into the room quietly.

His hand lifted from his side, once again brushing dark hair out of his face before allowing it to just fall back. As annoying as it was, Sasuke just couldn't seem to keep it out of the way and besides, his favorite patient was in a bad mood. This was more important.

``Hey,`` he said quietly, lifting the hand in greeting now. ``How are you feeling?``

Akinari glanced up - for a second his heart leaped - he was so happy that Sasuke had come to find him. Maybe there was someone he could trust after all. His bottom lip wibbled a bit before he looked away as if he didn't care one bit. "I'm fine."

He still had a bandage on his neck and arm, but he was told to stay abed and not tax himself too much. "Did you want something?"

He felt a smile cross his face when Akinari looked at him, his hand lowering again while he stepped into the room completely, shutting the door behind himself to lean against it.

Sasuke stayed there for a moment, glancing the other male over before moving closer. ``Well, I had to come and check on my favorite patient.``

"Why are you smiling like that?" Akinari asked, shifting where he was sitting on the bed; not really getting up, just adjusting his weight uncomfortably.

"Didn't I tell you to leave me alone? Or something?"

[apatheticnurse]

``Just glad to see you're alright,`` he replied quietly, stopping when he was next to the bed and reaching out to carefully touch the bandages on Akinari's arm.

``I told you that I wasn't lying when I said I cared.``

"... I haven't given you any reason to care," He said, only with a trace sharpness. At the touch, he didn't flinch away, but it was taking all his self-control not to. He was used to pushing people away, used to them staying gone.

"Did you bring anything?"

[apatheticnurse]

``You don't need a reason.`` Sasuke grinned again, pulling his hand away and sticking it into his pocket, taking out a small bottle of pills then holding them up.

``I have some painkillers here, if you need them?``

"You're pretty stupid, you know," He said, sitting up a little straighter; he put out his hand.

"Give them to me." Akinari looked up at the other man.

[apatheticnurse]

``I know,`` he answered quickly, doing his best to not smile again, his eyes on Akinari's hand.

``Can I trust you to not overdose?`` He held the bottle out, making sure to keep it out of the other's reach for the moment.

"I'm not as dumb as you are," Akinari snapped, leaning forward and grasping at the bottle. "I can manage pain meds, I have managed them all my life."

"I want to move out of this room." He said. "I don't want to be near that violent man."

[apatheticnurse]

``Of course you aren't.`` Sasuke held the cap of the bottle for a moment, giving the patient a certain look before releasing the object and lowering his hand to rest near his side now. ``I trust you then.``

He glanced over his shoulder to one of the other beds, tapping his fingers against his hip in thought. ``Where would you rather be?``

"..." Akinari took two of the pills, then stashed the bottle with his belongings; he put the bottle between folds of spare clothing. "You really do care about me, don't you?" He said, very quietly.

He reached out and put his hand on Sasuke's upper arm. "I want to stay with you."

[apatheticnurse]

The dark haired male watched him silently, making sure to take note of where he put the bottle, though it really wasn't any of his business now. ``Of course I do,`` he replied just as quietly.

He felt his heart skip a beat, eyes widening before he shook his head and lifted his hand to rest on Akinari's. ``. . . you do?``

"Yes. If I'm your favourite - then you will want to take care of me all the time. Then you will want to make sure nothing like this ever happens again." Akinari stood up slowly to face the other man.

"You're the only one who has ever believed me..."

[apatheticnurse]

Sasuke lifted his hand, brushing it through his hair and holding onto the strands, trying to think of what he was suppose to say. Were patients allowed to stay with staff?

``I . . guess I could let you stay with me.``
