Akinari didn't really like to talk to anyone while in the day room; he wanted to spend time alone, with his book. But today, he felt ill and out of sorts. And the words on the page were just small enough to be annoyingly difficult to focus upon.

And there was this strange guy, just staring - not that it was uncommon to just blank out, but there was this noise. Was he growling?

Against better sense, Akinari got up from where he was sitting and walked over to the pale-haired man. "... hey." He put out a hand, but fell short of actually touching the other. "What's wrong?"

Cornell slowly came out of his daze. For a moment he stared at other male, it was a long moment, taking in the site and the hand exposed to him. He seemed to be fine. The growling had stopped and his head tilted to the side ever so slightly. He almost looked confused by his surroundings. Then his lips curled back, and white teeth were bared. First he growled in warning, but before the male could pull away, Cornell was lunging. His jaw snapping and spit running down his face with each bite he tried to place on the brunnette.

"Hey!" Akinari managed to get one word out before the other was attacking him - he wished then that he hadn't approached at all. This place was full of crazies, after all.

He tried to fight Cornell off, but he was a lot weaker than the other man; it wasn't long before he was pinned - he felt teeth sink into his neck and he screamed from the sudden rush of pain.

Cornell pulled away, then bit down on another part of his anatomy. He threw his head back and howled, like a wolf howling at the moon. The sound was loud and long and once over he repeated the sound again. It was a strange site indeed. He would have regreted his actions if he had known he had hurt someone. He was out of his mind and replaced with the mindest of something much more animalistic. Cornell was generally a sweet man, and he's later feel terrible for this incident.

Akinari could feel the blood seeping from the wound at his neck - had the other man pierced a vein? When Cornell bit him again on the arm, he didn't feel that one so much as the first.

"... it's okay... it's okay." He whispered, bloodied fingers stretched out toward the other's face. He could very well get bitten again for his troubles, but it didn't seem to matter just now.

Aki was starting to become light-headed and probably would pass out in another minute.

Cornell stopped once he smelled the blood. Part of him felt like screaming and the other felt like ripping him appart. He waited and let the hand touch his face, wet with blood and spit. His lips curled back again into a toothy grin, but he made no move to attack again.

"Come here." Akinari put both hands on either side of Cornell's face. "... it's all right..." Reality was fading fast, his voice hardly above a whisper. The other had at least nicked the vein and blood was flowing freely from the wounds in his neck and arm to the carpet below.

His fingers left bloody trails on Cornell's face - his own blood was on the man's teeth when he grinned. It was a disconcerting sight; but somehow, he didn't panic. "Shh. Don't be afraid..."

Afraid? Cornell was no where near afraid. His own mind was struggling to concentrate on the words that were spoken. It felt like gibberish and here he was grinning like a fool. He could imagine a tail wagging and he made a sneezing noise, like it was some sor of response. He couldn't figure out what was really going on and it was quite obvious.

Akinari's fingers slipped away, falling to lie limply on the carpet; the present dimmed to speckled vision, then blacked out completely as he fainted. He could only hope that someone else in the day room or somewhere noticed what was going on before Cornell started ripping him apart.

Kate made her way into the day room, she needed a change of scene from the dull pale walls of her room. She hoped there weren't any other patients in there, or at least some quiet ones who would leave her alone.

What she came upon, she wasn't prepared for. Akinari was on the floor, bleeding from somewhere, seemingly unconscious. On top of him was some man she had never seen, grinning like an idiot, his mouth covered in blood. Kate's instincts kicked into high gear as she dropped her sketch pad and pencils. The screamed for her to get away, protect herself, don't get involved. But she knew Akinari and they had established a friendship of sorts.

Swallowing hard she raised her voice. "Hey! Get off of him!"

The man jumped to his feet at the sound of her voice. Quickly he was growling once again and he looked menacing. Cornell didn't like the sound of her voice, at least that was what he decided. He gave off another howl for the day and lunged at her too, jaws snapping in the same fashion as before. Only this time he had no aim it seemed as he tripped over his own legs and went for her feet.

The man growled at her, and Kate immediately tensed, backing up slowly. "What thel--" Her confused words were interrupted by an absurd noise, sounding like a howl. And then suddenly, the man lunged at her, teeth bared and jaws snapping. She braced herself for impact, her hands up, but it never came. With a thud, the man was at her feet, Kate stepped back. "What is wrong with you?" Her voice was calm and quiet, this was not the scariest nor the strangest thing she had ever encountered.

Cornel swiped at her feet once, only to miss as she took a step back. The silver haired man stopped as her voice calmed and he looked up at her from the floor. His face was covered in Akinari's blood. He made a whimpering noise and rolled onto his back, swiping almost playfully at the air.

Kate didn't know what to think of him, he was acting as if he were.... A dog? His face was stained with with blood and he made a whimpering noise as he rolled onto his back. Kate still confused, decided to try something. It was either going to work or go horribly wrong.

She leaned down, her hand moving slowly as it would when she was meeting a new dog. She extended her hand for him to smell, a sign that she meant no harm.

Cornell laid still, all he heard was the thumping of his own heart. He waited as moments passed, her hand getting closer. Cornell leaned his head up, sniffing her hand, just as a dog would before licking him response. He kept licking as if to clean her. Then he grinned like an idiot, laying on the floor. Yet his eyes looked void of any emotion.

The man was licking her, exactly like a dog. Kate was beyond confused, very much convinced that if there were people like this in this place, that she didn't deserve to be here. Her hand moved to scratch behind his ear. "Are you going to be good? Will you let me take care of my friend, please?" Her voice was sweet as she spoke slowly.
