William had been sitting in his room when he heard the explosion go off. It was really just down the hall for him. Room 115 was just a few doors away from room 125. The earth shattering explosion followed by cries. It promised the exact distraction he may need to finally be rid of this place. It was almost a sad thought. He had made a few friends in this place. Some he even admired. Others he couldn’t wait to be without. Wesker was like bitter bile in the back of his mind, constantly hovering. It really made his life here horrible. On top of sharing a room with him, the man seemed to be everywhere. Not now though. He’s out of the picture for the time being.

First he had to check it out. A curious creature since he was little, William always had to have his nose in everything. Even if it wasn’t his business, it was how he had survived so long in Umbrella. When he stuck his head out into the hallway, thick smoke filled his lungs along with the familiar stench of burning. Something was on fire, and it reminded William of that time and that place. A powerful feeling it was. Setting off the self-destruct system and destroying all of the dead and living on the inside. No one could have gotten out of it he was sure. Shaking his head he gathered some of the few belongings he had and sat down. Surely he had enough time to write a goodbye to at least someone. Steve was in solitary and the only other person who would even care was Alfred. He quickly wrote down his letter and thoughts onto the piece of crumpled paper before sneaking into Alfred’s room and placing it on his bed.

William was back in the smoky hallway before he realized it. Doing exactly as he had planned. It seemed so soon. Yet it seemed like he’d been waiting for an eternity. He ran down the hall, making way for his exit. Always on to be on alert, William kept close attention to his surroundings. Anyone could try to stop him at this point. He was sure they’d be up in the hallway soon trying to figure out what had happened. That is until he realized most of the ward was in the same state of fiery chaos. Where is everyone?

His conscience told him to turn back and help. But, since when had William Birkin ever listened to his conscience?

A smirk riddled across the man's face, seeing Wiliam brought a grin to his face. Without thought, he ran up to the man. "Going my way?" A grin went across his face as he caught up to the man. "You're taking your chances now, Dear William. You'll get farther with another person. Afterall, One organized man in chaos is dangerous. But we're not just men are we?"

He felt a shudder first. One of disgust, of all the people he ran into it had to be Morpheus D. Duvall. But, he had a very good point. One that William could not ignore. Why venture alone when there was more of a survival chance with two of them? William finally laughed, sounding a bit crazes in his adrenaline rush.

“No. We’re not. We have to go now though. We’ll get caught if we stand around Duvall.” He said bitterly.

He smirked happily. "Of course, I'm sure they're busy with others though, two well intentioned geniuses are the least of their worries." He smirked and looked at the man. "We don't have too much time, I'm sure the guards will reprehend the mischievous ones first and brig them. We have that amount of time before we can get out." He grinned and grabbed William by the wrist, running down the hall. "Let's hurry, shall we?"

Morpheus was a lot taller then William was. With each stride William felt like he was going to trip over himself. He wasn't exactly the fastest man on earth and was a bit slower then Morpheus himself was. He didn't complain, they wee on there way out now. Nothing was going to get in the way. Wesker being in the ICU actually helped William a bit. As the man kind of knew what he was up to and could have kept him in this insufferable place.

"We just need to get outside. The front doors. Everywhere else is completely fenced in. We could always blow a hole in the fence somewhere though." How William got his hands on explosives, no one would know.

He smirked. "We'll need those for more important things than a hole in the fence!" He quickened his pace, tightening his grip on the other man's wrist, heading down halls, quickly examining for other souls. Happily seeing few, he darted towards his goal. Freedom! He could feel it in his veins, His heart raced. Soon it would be the greatest moment, and importantly, he'd have another great mind to work with. Possibilities soared through his head, his own spirits rising. No one would stop them. He would make certain of it.

William winced a little. Morpheus sure had a grip on him and it kind of hurt. Still, he'd put up with it for now. They could see the door a head of them and William looked over his shoulder for a moment. Suddenly feeling guilty at leaving a few of the people behind. He'd have to come back for them some day. He didn't know when that day would come, but he didn't think it would be any time soon.

No one seemed to be paying attention, much to their luck. Everyone was to busy with the destruction hitting the place. It suited William just fine and soon they were out of the building, breaking through whatever security was there.

The silver haired man grinned, letting go of the man before dashing towards the door, ramming it with his shoulder, dashing through and falling ontot eh cold wet snow. His shoulder was screaming in agony, and the snow was soon numbing his hands and face, but he didn't care. it was welcome to the insulated and 'safe' realm of the prison he had been in. He smiled, laying down in the snow, grinning. "You're gonna love this, Will..." He smiled softly, one fo the few moments his real emotions shined through. He gentlylooked up into the frozen white sky. "Let's go and get her..."

This caused William to smile as he watched the man on the ground. The blazing heat of the inside felt nothing like this. He was glad he made sure to grab his things before coming outside. Then his words hit him, and he felt tears on his cheeks. Snow fell from the sky, hitting his freckled cheeks and covering his hair.

"Y-yeah. Sherry... and G." He said, feeling more emotion then he had in a long time.

"A car. We need transportation or our survival rate is next to nothing. It's the evening already and it will only get colder." He pointed out, rubbing the tears from his eyes.

He smiled gently and stood up, recollecting himself. "I'm sure you've a higher knowledge of this area, haven't you?" He smirked widely, almost prideful "They had to keep me unconscious and restrained coming here." He smirked and stared at the door, backing up quickly, scanning the building. "They DO have some form of garage...don't they? Or do they still use horse and carriage?"

William laughed, "Actually, I don't really remember being out here. I was dropped off out front with five guards. The vehicle left with them." He said. It was almost depressing. William was playing mostly by ear. His plan went as far as the door.

He smirked. "Very well then. We've three choices! One! We find a lovely vehicle from the outside and use it to escape. Two! We go back inside, find a way to a vehicle, and use it. Three..." He grinned at Birkin. "We make a makeshift igloo on wheels and see where that goes." His clear attempt at making light the situation he hoped would keep both men's spirits high. They were free, he did not want the sudden drop in ideas to dampen the mood. He continued to examine the area before looking far to his left. "William. I don't suppose you'd confirm that there's a garage...There has to be a vehicle here doesn't there? It'd be rather...pathetic...for them not to. But William. If what I think is our ticket out, your explosives would help..."

"I think we might have to go with your igloo idea. I haven't even heard of a vehicle on the premisis, except when they are dropping off the patients. I'm not even sure how they get to the next town over for supplies." William said sadly.

"Until we find something, we're going to need to walk." The idea was not comforting. He was sure he could handle it though.

He frowned and turned his back away from the 'hospital.'

"It's fitting in a way William, leaving like this from that dirty, ugly place." He laughed happily, waving the other man closer. "We won't live long out here, so you can hope your survival skills will save you...or we find some unfortunate soul on our way." He grinned. "This isn't a game afterall..."

"Games are for children." Birkin said haughtilly. He hated games. He'd had enough of his fill for them. With everything Wesker and Umbrella had done combined. He followed Morpheus's lead, turning away from the hopital for the first and last time. Without a glance back, he moved through the snow and made his own way away from the wretched place, in the direction of the nearest town. That he had researched. It would probably take them all night to get there though.

"What are you waiting for? Come on." William said, glancing over his shoulder at the silver haired man.

The man grinned. "I'm waiting for you." He smirked at his unwilling partner. "William, I don't suppose you know what we do now, do you?" His face suddenly turned serious. His eyes gazing into his. "You do know why I'm doing this, right, dear William?"
