Title: Go out with a BANG Characters: EVERYONE Location: EVERYWHERE Rating: NC-17 for VIOLENCE Summary: JOKER AND HIS MINIONS HAVE CEASED THE POPULATION OF MALAISE. Squadala! Day/Time: Late afternoon/evening
Vergil had only stepped out of his room for a minute when the chaotic noises of explosions roared through the previously silent hall way. For a moment, the man stood still, frozen in mid stride, a jolt of fear stabbing into his chest as the floor shook violently under him. Time seemed to slow around him as panic crept into his senses. Vergil turned around and stared wide eyed down the hall way in the direction of the noise that had caused the floor and walls to tremble around him. The door to room 125 had almost completely been shaken off of it's hinges and had fallen inward. Black smoke billowed out of the room and, although he couldn't feel the heat or see the steadily growing flames, the man sensed that they were there.
For a moment, he could only stare back at the room, dumbfounded. A million thoughts ran through the silver haired man's head at once as he tried to piece together what had just happened. He took a single timid step backwards after a moment, his heart pounding widely in his chest as he wondered just what he should do. After all, an explosion like that would have drawn the attention of the everyone and he was safely out of his room, after all. He felt a twinge of sorrow as his mind was filled with the image of all of his precious books, collected and treasured from childhood, set ablaze near his bedside. Still, in the back of his mind a voice comforted him that they were just things. He was safe.
The man was about to turn and bolt down the hall away from the ever growing heat of the flames when he was struck with a horrifying thought. His roommate Danny, a small black haired teen with whom he was acquainted, had been in the room when he had left. Vergil's dark eyes scanned the hall, seeking out the comforting figure of the teen fleeing from the room, but was struck numb to see no one but himself in the hall. No one had come yet and the man didn't know when or if anyone else ever would. All at once, he felt a surge of adrenaline course through him as he charged down the hall way back towards the room.
As he neared the door way, he felt the heat grow ever more intense and he coughed harshly as he breathed in the smoke. Ducking his head low, the man peered into the room. Over the hectic noise of the flames, the man could barely make out the teen's pleas for help, but none the less the man's worse fear was confirmed. Danny was trapped in the room.
His legs trembled as he grabbed the door frame and leaned in. "Danny!" The man yelled at the top of his lungs, his call partially cut short by a spell of dry coughing. "Where are you?!" With that, the man ducked his head and began clambering over the partially inflamed door, into the smoke filled room.
The explosive had been in his bed. And when it was set off, Danny was lying in it. In itself, the explosion wasn't so bad. It certainly didn't send the room sky-high, and it certainly didn't shake the foundation of the building. It did, however, carry enough force to throw Danny up against the wall and to set his clothing (and partially his skin) on fire.
And once he rolled onto the floor, the fire had spread, and the majority of the back of his body was in flames. He could smell his hair burning, and he could barely breathe thanks to the smoke and due to other injuries from the explosion.
At this point, he was panicking. He could do nothing but roll around and try to do all he could to get the burning to stop. He could feel himself being torn apart by the flames, flesh ripped open by the heat. Instinctively, Danny was trying to 'stop, drop, and roll.' His attempts were futile, and in his current state of panic, his mind was in lockdown. He couldn't think straight and was left with nothing but instinct and his mind's auto-pilot.
That was when someone ran in. Who was it? It looked familiar. Not like it mattered. Danny could barely register the fact that someone was there, but once he processed the idea, he stretched out one arm, partially covered in flames, as a gesture for help. Or anything, really, he just needed to get out of here.

The man felt his pulse race when he didn't hear a response from the boy. He moved fully into the room, keeping his head low and scanning the cluttered floor. Moving his arm up to his face, he buried his nose in the heavy fabric of his coat to keep the heat from his sensitive skin and to try and breath easier. As he passed by his bed, he noted with a grim fascination just how fast his books went up in flames.
Growling with frustration and panic, Vergil reached out blindly in the area the teen's bed had been. He felt a temporary wave of relief when he felt the smooth steal corner of the bed post and frantically patted down the mattress to see if the boy was still in his bed. From the state the mattress was in, the man had an idea of the epicenter of the explosive, whatever it had been.
As he was moving away from the bed, a movement caught his eye. He glanced over through narrowed eyes, thinking the motion to have been caused by a wayward flame and was instead met with the sight of the teen on the floor, his entire figure seemingly covered with flames. Vergil stumbled towards him, all at once unsure and sick to his stomach. He couldn't move the boy until the flames were out, that was for sure.
Not knowing or caring if Danny recognized him, Vergil pulled the long blue coat from his body and dropped to his knees near the boy but was still careful to keep his now exposed arms from the tendrils of flame that threatened to catch on him as well. Gritting his teeth, he bunched up his coat in his hands and began beating it against the flames on Danny's head and neck in an attempt to smother the flames.
The heat subdued for a few moments, replaced by what felt like enormous gusts of wind. Danny grunted in thanks, expecting the pain to die down, but realized it was only making it worse. The fire wasn't going out with the air--it was fanning it! He tensed, the muscles screaming, and shouted hoarsely, falling into a coughing fit.
"Sto--don't--sto--p!!" he shrieked, quickly running out of air as smoke entered his mouth.
