He'd barely slept. Fran would want to know everyone he'd been with, and why he'd felt the need to spend his idle time thinking about and having sex rather than cultivating real friendships. She knew why, though. She knew everything about him and just accepted it, loved him despite what he'd been before taking to the skies and finding her to help him out.
She would see right through the mask he'd kept up his entire time here. For all his talk about clinging to important people, trusting them enough to help them write the next chapter in life, and living in the moment instead of regretting the past, he'd made no friends, grown attached to nobody other than the concern for his patients. He cared for them, and it scared the hell out of him.
Fran would surely be here soon. Balthier leaned back in his recliner and flipped through channels on TV idly. What could he do but wait?
