Even as he heard Zack's voice from inside, Zexion stood still and fiddled with the locket around his neck anxiously for a moment longer. Letting out a sigh to try and calm down, he brought a hand forward to twist the knob and open the door. Perhaps the worst had already come, he tried to assure himself. What more could he do wrong

It was disconcerting that Zack wouldn't raise his face, and Zexion ducked down, trying to see his face. He didn't know whether it would be harder to gather his nerve when he couldn't see the look on Zack's face, or if he could. Fixing a relationship was something entirely new to him, but even he knew that he couldn't just say 'I love you' a hundred times and then Zack would feel better, as much as he wished it would.

"Zack, I'm sorry I didn't get to see you. I am not trying to avoid you. I'm scared - " He sighed, rubbing his eyelids with his thumb and forefinger. "I'm concerned about you leaving. I know that makes you angry, but please, I'm trying to just trust that you won't - I've never trusted anyone fully before, especially not as much as I trust you. I just . . ."

Another sigh, and Zexion toed his shoes against the wood flooring. "I am not helping anything. Please forgive me, Zack . . ." That hadn't gone as well as he'd hoped.
