The day room was unusually quiet at this time of the morning. The patients that most often filled it were attending their routine morning check-ups with their assigned doctors - other than a few scattered people, it was empty.

Marluxia, having decided that he was in no need of a physical examination, entered the room without giving any of its occupants a second glance. The affairs of these unstable people weren't any of his concern; he had much more important business to attend to.

He made his way to a secluded table, sitting down and pulling out the paperback he had brought with him. It was a worn copy of West Side Story, but for once, it wasn't the book that he was interested in. Rather, it was the letter he had hidden in the pages. He deftly pulled it out after glancing around casually to make sure it was safe to do so.

I -

Two new dusks, one lost assassin.
Half the dancers were taken by the samurai.
Dragoons have kept the garden safe.
Snipers prevented an attack by the twilight.
The castle is still ours.

- IIIt wasn't ( ... )

The words startled Lelouch and he jumped in his chair, craning his neck around to catch a glimpse of formidable pink hair. He stared at the man for a moment, internally debating whether or not to draw attention to himself. He and Marluxia already indirectly knew one another, at least when it came to politics.

Instead Lelouch shifted in his chair and turned back around, realizing that he had turned so sharply that his pen had made a sloppy zigzag across the line asking for his I.Q.

He squeezed in the numbers '161' - though it was an approximation - and at once realized he had jsut finished the last of the surveys and paperwork. The boy quickly glanced back at Marluxia.

Marluxia was in the process of writing a response on the back of the letter - Fire will erase the lost assassin and dancers - when movement caught his eye. Observing the boy's actions, he couldn't help but lift a brow. How amusing.

However, when he looked a second time, that amusement was quickly replaced with curiosity. Carefully refolding the letter and tucking it back within the book's pages, he stood and silently walked over to the boy's table. Without any sort of prelude, he leaned against it, smirking down at the other.

"I never would have expected the royal family to use an asylum as a kennel."

What an unexpected turn on events.

Lelouch smirked confidentally as he looked up. He was accustomed to speaking with those more powerful than her, being only seventeenth in line for absolute monarchy over Britain.

"There are people here far more formidable than dogs," he remarked, sitting up straighter. The younger Prince set down his pen and began to drum his fingers on the desk.

"I assume this is Marluxia I am speaking with? Gangster, anarchist, pimp, and a rumored pedophile. Please to meet you." Lelouch stuck out his hand. Clearly the boy had done his research.

The man let out a low laugh, not seeming to be startled by the other's knowledge of him in the slightest. He shook the boy's hand confidently. "I do believe you forgot drug dealer in that concise summary of my profession," he answered, his voice soft though brimming with authority. Despite the other being royalty, it was clear which one of them had more power.

"Lelouch Lamperouge," Marluxia continued, letting go of his hand, "Dare I ask why you're here? The last I heard, you were quite mentally stable."

He paused, and an amused smirk graced his lips. "Unless, that is, your family has gotten tired of your antics?"
