1. Beverly Hills - Throwback song that reminds me of "I Love Rock'n'Roll". The lyrics remind me a lot of In The Garage, except its like he traded in his X-Men comic books and KISS posters for the E! channel. I didn't like it at first, but the more they played it on the radio, the more it grew on me. Also, its really catchy. It made me really skeptical about the cd though.
2. Perfect Situation - From the moment you hear the guitars smash in at the beginning, you know its a good song. Really reminds me of blue & pinkerton. Nice addition of the piano. It sounds really cool. The chorus is very catchy and I like it when it gets stuck in my head for some reason.
3. This Is Such A Pity - This song really threw me off. I was like WTF am I listening to? But it never sounds bad. It sounds really 80s. The synth sounds are pretty cool. I read that this song is supposed to be a tribute to The Cars. I can kind of see that. Sounds really smooth and clean. The guitar riff at the end is way cool. Definitely one of the most interesting songs I've ever heard.
4. Hold Me - BADASS POWER BALLAD!!! The harmonies during the bridge are freaking beautiful. I absolutely love this song.
5. Peace - This is another ballad-y song. It's not as good as Hold Me, but its still pretty good. I really like the woah-oh woah-oh's at the end. Good song.
6. We Are All On Drugs - This is definitely the worst song on the CD. The lyrics are really cheesy, and so is the melody. If Rivers really wrote hundreds of songs, I'm sure he could have picked a better one than this to thrown on the CD. It's okay though. Considering this song sucks and it still makes you tap your feet is kind of an accomplishment. The rest of the CD more than makes up for it. I just hope its not going to be the next single, like the rumors say.
7. The Damage In Your Heart - This song is really good. This is one of those epic sounding songs because certain parts remind me of different songs from blue, pinkerton and green.
8. Pardon Me - I really like this one too, it has a very catchy chorus that just kicks ass.
9. My Best Friend - This song is perhaps the poppiest on the cd, but its really fun to jam to. It sounds like something that should be on the Van Wilder soundtrack or something.
10. The Other Way - This song doesn't really stick out among the others but its still pretty good.
11. Freak Me Out - Talk about cool. This song is really interesting. I want to put it on repeat and just listen to it over and over. I love the way it starts with the echoing notes from the guitar and that wierd synth noise. Its really great. This is so different from anything they have ever done. I like the use of the harmonica at the end. It throws me back to their earlier days.
12. Haunt You Every Day - Very good song to end the CD with. It's no Only In Dreams, but it'll do.
So there you have it. All you need to do is buy the CD. With only one bad song on it... I'd say its worth your money. If you don't like Beverly Hills, don't let that stop you from getting the CD. It's the only song on the album that sounds like that. The rest of it is a hybrid of all 4 CDs taking what made them so good and blending it all together to create an epic sound. It's like they have matured and come in to their own.
