I do have to object that no, I have not had my eye on McCain for years. He is not my first choice, but he is the Republican nominee, like it or not. I disagree with him on several issues, but he is far closer to me politically than Obama. Also, according to the most recent polls, McCain is no longer the underdog! Of course, polls coming out of the conventions will not necessarily be indicative of actual election results, but it's a promising sign.
