I thought this sounded like a wonderful idea. I got it off of a SG1 LJ list but we should pass it around.
Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf-to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not-it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
All I want for Christmas....
1) An SG1 fic that is OT3 with Jack/Daniel/Sam. I love longer stories that develop the relationships and I love the stories where they have kids. I think they'd all make fantastic parents. There aren't a lot of these and I've love to see some more, long or short. (If you know of such a story, other then Michele's Annuaki, you could send the website for those too!)
2) Inforamation about Girl Guides/ Girl Scouts in other countries that you can't get off the web. Things like store catalogues, program books, guider training programs etc. I run a Pathfinder unit (Girls 11 - 13) and they would find tihs stuff so interesting. They loved the stuff I brought back from Britian once.
3) Patches....badges...anything that you can sew on about your area. It would be even better if you included a description about where it came from. Guiding rrelated ones get bonus marks!
4) Suggestions on where on the web I can take online trainings on Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets so I can learn how to use the properly.
5) A partner, significant other, cuddle buddy! Someone who will work with me and help me learn how to be in a relationship and be willing to put up with my excentricies!
6) To have everyone I know provide just $1 to Foster Parents Plan. I foster a child in brazil and the program is very worth it. You can direct where the money goes, which program it goes to, but every dollar does make a difference. For example, I also sponse the "Girl Child" Program which helps teach women in 3rd world countries about the health risks involved with Female Genital Mutilation, female heath related topics and provide training for young girls.
So that's it. If you need my snail mail address for anything please e-mail me at
lonemala@hotmail.com and I will send it. You don't need to send you name if you don't want to.
This sounds like fun, and I hope to be able to make some people's wishes come true!
