This is yet another eye roller from the Cubs.
"Horry cow?" My favorite part is when the shirt seller says "some Oriental guy" designed it. WTF.
When Shingo Takatsu pitched for the White Sox, the whole race card was being thrown around for the "He Gong" t-shirts...but we asked Shingo if he was OK with the whole gong thing...and he was. He actually thought it was kind of cool.
Same thing for Tadahito Iguchi, when everyone fondly called him the "gooch" despite that nickname sounding a little too much like a derogatory term for Asians. We asked him about it, and he was OK with that, too.
Those third-party trash-talking shirts are pretty childish as a whole. I'm especially not a fan of the "HEY CUBS FANS!" middle finger shirt that was being passed around when the Sox won the Series a few years back. It's especially shitty when they reinforce stereotypes.
I don't blame Fukudome for being pissed. :-/
