Was invited to join a writers group today by a very nice person.
As this is a very nice person, I did not say that I'd rather have my intestines tied to a tree and be forced to run around the trunk before I would voluntarily associate with the mob of whiny, bullying hypocrits assembled in said group.
Neither did I mention that sooner or later (probably sooner) I was bound to get under the single molecule thick skin of one or more of them. I have no wish to be dogpiled.
I just said that I lack the time to keep up with my current commitments and am extremely hesitant to take on more and it actually is true...although I really would rather have my intestines tied to a tree and be forced to run around the trunk. Yes. It is that bad.
I am capable of being tactful. Most of the time I chose not to be.
