More Caustic Musings

I understand how young people can see the world in black and white. A lot of the situations they are faced with, on a personal level and in world events, are new to them.

However, I have to seriously question the intelligence of someone who gets into their sixth or seventh decade of life and who still clings to the idea that the world is a nice, neat place where everything is black and white and that they have a monopoly on What Is Right and everyone who disagrees with them is a complete drooling idiot.

It seems the only thing that can change their minds is when the seemingly unintended consequences of their beliefs come home to hit them in the face. THEN it occurs to them that the world might be a slightly more nuanced place than they had believed for decades and decades.

I have one thing to say to them:

You're very late to the party, but welcome to being an adult.
