I was really excited and happy about my Halloween costume this year, even though I'm not doing anything on the actual day of Halloween. I had 2 parties to attend this weekend and the local Comicon, so I got to wear my costume 3 times and I felt great in it all 3 times. I've been wanting to do this costume for a few years now, but thought it might be difficult to put together. Turns out, it was really easy!
So, for me to become Marty McFly, I...
- borrowed a jean jacket from my mom and suspenders from my brother
- wore jeans and a burgundy tank top that I already had
- tried to find a plaid shirt that looked right, failed and wore a plaid shirt I already owned that had a predominantly white ground
- bought a puffer vest that was conveniently being sold by Joe Fresh and was not very costly
- bought white shoes from Ardene and painted them with Jacquard fabric paint in scarlet
The only work I actually had to put into this was painting the shoes and adjusting the suspenders to be the right length (seriously, this took me so many tries!). It was awesomely low on labour and high on fun!
At Comicon I got pics with a Delorean that had been decked out a la Back to the Future by
ToTheFuture.org. And the proceeds from donations go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research!
