Mal and River sat quietly at the dining room table with empty bowls in front of them. The crew had already left for bed after having enjoyed the shiny dessert of real ice cream and chocolate sauce that the Captain had picked up for them the last time they were planet side.

River picked up the dirty dishes and took them over to the sink to wash them. After she had finished the dishes, she opened a cupboard and pulled out a covered bowl she had hidden earlier. She got a rag wet and placed it on top of the bowl.

Mal was so lost in thought, he failed to notice what River was doing. Worries about where the next job was coming from had been plaguing him a lot recently and if something didn’t show up soon, they’d be adrift in the black.

River smiled smugly as she walked over to the table and set the bowl down in an empty chair out of view. Mal’s reverie was suddenly interrupted when River proceeded to straddle his lap and then lean up and nibble on his earlobe.

“Trust me?” she asked.

Smiling and putting his hands about her waist to pull her closer, a deep chuckle rumbled in his chest before he responded. “With my life.”

“Would you do anything for me?” She gently laved her tongue around the ridges of his ear, knowing full well that it turned him on.

“Anything in the ‘verse!” he groaned.

“Good. Take off your clothes and lie down on the table.” River stopped her actions and quickly moved up and away from Mal.

“Sweetheart, I don’t think that there is a particularly good idea.”

“I asked, you agreed. Strip and lay down.”

“River, sweetheart, anyone could walk in here.”

“Nope, all asleep. Been waitin’, now’s the time. Strip and lay down.” She said again, pointing a finger at the table.

“What’s this all about?” Mal asked, still not complying with her wishes.

“Wants you to prove you love and trust her. Guess I have my answer.” River began to turn away, but Mal’s hand quickly stopped her.

“If it’s that important to you.” Mal grumbled as he slid his suspenders off his shoulders and then sat down to remove his boots. River stood back and enjoyed the show. As each article of clothing was removed, more of Mal’s hard, golden flesh was revealed. Her eyes light up when he removed his pants, the tattoo that had so intrigued her the first time she’d seen him naked.

“Feel like a gorram fool.” He mumbled under his breath, as he hoisted himself onto the table and then moved around to find a comfortable position, even though there was none to be had on that rock hard surface.”

“Don’t get any slivers.” River smiled coyly at him.

“Now, raise your hands over your head and hang on to the far edge of the table. Don’t let go unless I tell you to. Promise?”

Doing as she requested, Mal rolled his eyes before replying, “Yeah.”

With her amazing grace and skill, River leapt onto the table. She chose her steps carefully so as to not accidentally step on him. When she had positioned her feet to either side of his hips, she gently raised her dress off her body and let it slide from her fingers to the floor. She was completely naked underneath.

Mal’s breath became harder, as did his manhood as he watched River move and disrobe. He knew she usually wore some kind of undergarment at all times because she had been raised to never be that immodest. Besides, it just wasn’t done for a girl to flash everything when she was dancing, which was River’s won’t to do at any time. The realization that she’d been so scantily clad all during dinner and possibly all day had his hands itching to grab her and take her right then. But he’d promised, so his hands clutched tighter onto the end of the table.

She stood there a few moments gazing down at him while letting him enjoy the view of her body from where he was as she used a piece of string to tie her long hair up out of the way. Then she knelt down, her legs on either side of his and leaned over the table to get the bowl and rag she had placed in the chair.

Sitting back up, she smirked and then removed the cover. The remains of the chocolate sauce and a paintbrush rested inside. Picking up the paintbrush and making sure it was liberally coated in chocolate, she began to paint symbols of Love, Trust, Mine, Captain, and My Heart and Soul, on Mal’s chest.

Each stroke of the brush was a gentle caress. Mal wanted to close his eyes, but was too enthralled by the intense concentration on River’s face as she worked. Beside, it distracted him from each erotic flick of the brush against his skin.

Dipping the brush in the bowl, she then went to his hip and followed the lines of his tattoo. Beneath it she inscribed the Chinese symbol for Serenity. The artistic portion completed, she dipped the brush again before proceeding to paint Mal’s cock.

Each stroke on his cock was like River’s tongue lapping at him, his favorite fantasy. Mal moaned and closed his eyes. His hands, with a mind of their own, let go of the table and moved towards her. All brush motion ceased and his eyes opened and flew to her face.

“Hands back on the table or I leave now.” She said as she fixed him with a pointed stare.

Mal moved his hands back up to grip the table and after confirming he would keep them in place, River finished painting and then set aside the brush and bowl aside. Sitting back, she paused to admire the view.

“You taken up a interest in body art darlin’?”

“Yes, admiring the symbolism of everything spread out before me. Want to start again, so I have to clean the canvas first.” River picked up the wet rag with a contemplative look.

Thinking she was going to wipe the chocolate from his body, he relaxed and closed his eyes for a moment. His eyes popped open when, instead of a wet cloth, he felt the slide of her tongue and mouth on his chest. She was licking him like a cat cleaning another.

Her mouth followed the trail of each brush stroke in the exact order in which she had drawn them. He’d thought the brush was erotic but it was nothing compared to the glide of her tongue. The heat and moistness of her mouth on his skin was driving him insane, as she lapped and sucked at the chocolate that had dried and stuck to his flesh.

His mind filled with thoughts of where she would be going to next and then her ultimate destination. Little River had never done anything like that before with him and he was afraid to say anything. Lord knows he wanted to feel that mouth surrounding him but had never had the courage to ask her to do that. She was so young.

He felt River’s chuckled against his skin and knew she’d heard him.

“Doing what I want because I want to. Not just because you want it.” She murmured happily against his skin as she started on his tattoo.

Mal lay in thrall. River was drawing sounds from his body that he’d never heard himself make. One moment he was whimpering, the next moaning, and then he was pleading with her to hurry up.

She had finished all the chocolate on his tattoo and the symbol for Serenity. She grinned at him and positioned herself to move in for the kill. Just before she reached his cock, a strangled sound came from the doorway.

Mal and River looked up to see Zoë standing in the doorway.

“I was after a late night snack, Sir. I guess I wasn’t the only one with a craving.” Zoë smirked as she arched one eyebrow. Executing a flawless military about face, she strode quickly away.
