Bitter Warmth
Of late, my flask and I stagger entwined
Burdens take flight, flames dart directionless
Toasting the celestials, I mock mankind
Consciousness wanes, tears of mirth manifest
Sounds of hilarity escape, screeching
In warmth, I drown myself, wiping my lips
On stretches of green I stumble, clinging
Feet of ten drag, I fall victim to whips
I struggle through solid air, lungs frigid
With heavy breaths, I touch on abandon,
Vile stench condoned, my features placid
I dare instigate every last sin
The sun awakens and dawn betrays me
This cripple isn’t what I’d planned to be.
