A lady like her and a guy like him? Didn't seem likely, him without a country or a title, much less a last name that wasn't his mother's.
But he'd be lying to himself if he tried to deny the way she made him feel. Sure, he'd had to rescue her more than once from various boogedy things, but as much of a bother as that could be, he didn't mind it so much. She needed him and somehow, he needed her: two misfits from completely different worlds. That was all that mattered to him: she wanted to follow her own path.
He'd tried to work off these feelings by building a shed for the herd of cows he hoped to wrassle up -- one thing the Mansion needed was fresh milk -- but even working didn't drive these feelings away.
She might find him, perched on the low roof of the shed, pounding in the last nail to hold down the tar paper.
