Jesus, this is too small a small world. Everyone I know seems to attend Eastercon xor Whitby Goth Weekend xor Les 24 Heures du Mans.

I approve of the last, passively tolerate people going to the first and giggle uncontrollably at thought of grown-ups going to the second . ;)

I think I'd reverse the order: Eastercon is tremendous fun, of which I heartily approve, I at least passively tolerate WGW, and have never understood the attraction of motor racing.

I'm not sure that watching cars going quickly round in circles, for a whole day, is strictly better or more acceptable than wearing too much leather and eye makeup. Even for grownups. Though I think out of the three I would choose Eastercon.

I have never been to a goth weekend, a SciFiCon or watched cars race for 24 hours.

The first scares me, the second scares me and the third scares me.

With different values of The Fear.

Not just attending, either. *Cackles dementedly*.
