These, I've known about for almost as long as they've been available (at least since they only had what they now call the "Classic"). And yet, I had only ever considered their purchase as a gee-whiz sort of thing. Recently, having seen others buy a pair and been pleased, and also having the requirement to good sailing shoes (something other than a dock-sider or a
hiking boot; Robert Palmer reference unintended), I decided to give them a try. And, long story short, I love them.
I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and say that I've always had an extraordinary interest in going barefoot. Nor will I lump myself with the typical purchaser, who is a runner looking to run barefoot. But, I will say that I do enjoy walking barefoot, because I get the chance to walk in my natural balls-of-my-feet gait. And, I could--whether it will ultimately get to running barefoot, or not--stand to have the chance to build up the muscles in my feet, to counteract completely flat feet that may also be contributing to some of my back problems. Hence the investment.
A testament to how comfortable they are: I've had my pair on since this morning and I often forget they're there.
[And a testament to how much of a furry I am: I really wish I had the balls to throw money to the wind and modify them to leave dragon prints in the dirt.]
