Silent & breakable chapter 8

There’s nothing that happened after that day… Yunho and I parted ways and we never saw each other again.
Though I will forever remember the day of my 18th birthday, because it was the day that I lost the only family I had left... and I saw him.

“Jaejoong dear, run and get me some things from the store,” My mother asked. I nodded without saying anything. When I reached the store I was immediately hit with a bad sensation, which caused me to drop the grocery basket and run out of the store to speed back home. And the feeling only got worse when I saw the black vehicle in front of my house.
I rushed inside and screamed at the top of my lungs at the sight that greeted me. My mother’s face was covered in blood and she was being held up by the hair by a man dressed in black. Mafia.
“Get the hell away from her!” I screamed rushing foreword to attack the guy. But I was pulled away and I looked up my eyes to see my perpetrator. My eyes widen as I saw Daniel Henney smirking down at me.
“Miss me?”
~ Yunho’s P.O.V. ~
“Let me out!” I yelled at Leeteuk who was wearing a worried expression. “Damn it Leeteuk! What’s going on?” I sat back in the cell that my father had locked me up in.
“Yunho…” Leeteuk finally responded looking at me seriously. “You have to save him.” He whispered as he walked to my cell and took out his keys.
- “Who?” I asked, worry creasing my voice.
- “Jaejoong,” was all the other young man answered and it was all that was needed to be said as I bolted out of the cell that Leeteuk had thankfully unlocked.
I’m coming for you Jae…
~ Jaejoong’s P.O.V. ~
I trembled as I looked into the monster’s eyes.
“Miss you? Why would I miss you…” I muttered as loud as I could. His reaction wasn’t what I expected, in fact, he flung his head back and laughed.
“Aw~ that’s the Jae I know!” I glared at him but relaxed and looked at my mother who was terribly beaten.
“I’m sorry mom. I...”
She shook her head and smiled at me “I love you Joongie.”
She whispered I was about to tell her that I loved her also but Daniel grabbed the back of my hair, yanking it, which caused me yelp in pain.
“Tell me Jae, where is the Jewel?”
I raised my eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” Daniel released my hair and started pacing in front of me.
“I don’t have time for games.” I shook my head. “I’m n…” I fell to the ground as he slapped me across the face.
“Think back... If you don’t, your pretty mother will join your father.” My eyes widen as he said that and I quickly started to rack my brain for any clue.
Flashback
(Jae, 4 yrs old)
“Listen Jae... The note that’s off-tune holds my most precious possession, aside from you and your mother of course...”
I looked at him and nodded. “Can I have it?” I asked with a smile but he shook his head and I pouted, making him chuckle.
“When daddy goes to heaven then you can have it… but keep it safe” I clapped my hands and smiled at the best person in my life.
End of flashback
I looked up at the angry Daniel. “I...” I looked at my mother who was shaking her head. “I know where it is,” I whispered to him, but in my mind I was begging forgiveness to my deceased father. I can’t lose my mother… not over some jewel.
Daniel smirked. “Well show us!”
I got up and walked into my father’s special room where he kept my piano. I slowly sat on the bench and pressed some of the keys.
“I said find it! Not play the piano!” Daniel hissed gripping my hair. I ignored him and pressed another key where the tune was off just like my father had said. I observed the key before pulling on it very hard until it came off revealing a red stone.
“Good boy...” Daniel cooed picking up the stone and spinning it around between his thumb and index finger.
I winced in pain as he grabbed me roughly and forced me out into the room where my mother was sitting. Tears streaked down my face as she looked at me. I signed to her ‘sorry mother, I can’t lose you,’ and she simply bowed her head.
I screamed in pain as I was thrown to the ground and kicked.
“What was that?” Daniel asked kicking me in the stomach before stepping on my hands.
- “N-No please stop!” I whispered urgently as I felt one of my fingers cracking, making me let out a piercing scream that hurt even my ears.
I was pulled roughly onto a kneeling position facing my mother. “You’re going to regret that Jaejoong.”
I watched with teary wide eyes as he pulled out a gun from his pocket. I didn’t have any time to react as he pulled the trigger, the bullet hitting my mother right in the middle of the forehead. How familiar this scene was...
I stared with horrified eyes as my mother dropped to the ground, blood pooling around her. The blood puddle made its way to me until my knees were soaked in blood. “Call the boss-“his voice trailed off but I was barely aware of it as I rested my hands in the pool of blood, spreading it with my fingers. I then turned my gaze towards the monster next to me.
Without thinking I jumped on him and wrestled him to the ground.
“SHIT!” He yelled and grabbed me around the neck as I straddled his waist punching him across the face. I looked over as the Jewel flung out of his hand and smashed against the wall it, splitting in half.
‘Keep it safe.’
I stood up grabbing the 2 halves I was heading for the outside but I fell on my face as Daniel grabbed my leg. He grabbed the jewels out of my hand and smacked me across the face in the process.
I ignored the pain I felt as I quickly grabbed half of the jewel and ran upstairs to my room, shutting the door. Now cornered as Daniel opened the door slowly glowering at me, I backed up toward the window… Window?
I looked down. It wasn’t that far… only a two story house. I didn’t look back as I jumped out of the window.
“You fool!” Daniel yelled. I fell on the ground with a thud. My head spun and throbbed as I lifted myself up, the jewel still in my possession.
I stood up staggering. The world was spinning before me as I made my way down the street. That’s when I came upon an all-too-familiar face. Yunho.
“JAE!” He screamed, running toward me but I backed away.
“J-Jae… You need to go to the hospital…” I shook my head and moved past him but he grabbed me by the wrist. “Jae, I’m sorry… please, don’t walk away.”
I shook weakly to escape his grasp and managed to get free.
“J-jae, you’re bleeding!” he pleaded. I just kept walking and ignoring him as he ran after me.
Right on cue, a car pulled up to the side of the road.
“JAE!” Junsu squeaked rushing toward me. He grabbed me into his arms and I happily fell into them, closing my eyes. “HOW DARE YOU?” he yelled at who I could only assume as Yunho.
- “It wasn’t me!”
I felt Junsu tense and give a low cold chuckle. “And whose father runs the operation?” There was no answer from Yunho “That’s what I thought.” Junsu lead me to his car and I could sense Yunho following as he did so.
“You stay away from J…” is all I heard as he shut the door and nearly yelled that warning at Yunho. I closed my eyes and tightened my hand, feeling the Jewel in it. I sighed contently. There is no happiness for me.
~ Yunho’s P.O.V. ~
“You stay away from Jae.” Junsu said glaring at me. I looked inside the window and Jae had his eyes closed. He looked happy about something
“You don’t control him, I can see him if I want,” I replied straightening up. Junsu scoffed
“Oh no you can’t, the way I found him when you left that day… You think I would forget? DO YOU THINK HE WOULD?” I tensed at the reminder.
“It was an accident.” The other young man folded his arms and replied sharply, “and accidents can always be prevented.”
I lowered my head. There was no way winning with this guy.
“Just leave him alone,” he said before walking to the driver’s side and stepping in giving me a long heated look. I sighed and stood there watching the car drive away. “Why didn’t you stop him? He has the half…” I looked over at Daniel.
“Shut up,” I muttered walking in the opposite direction.
“You have to take over soon… and then you will have to get it back” He sneered. When I turned around he was already walking away waving at me.
