The day

This morning I ate breakfast with my Pastor and friend Lakan. I enjoyed getting to hang out with him outside of the official agenda. I was up late last night studying and researching on the internet; church history is very interesting, especially the Apostolic age. At Bible study last night I was stressing the importance of putting the Bible in its historical context, since we cannot truly know the issues addressed and how the answers given apply if we don't put it in perspective--it would be like someone discovering a love letter that dated back so many years and concluding that it was not in fact a letter of endearment since the writer sustituted the word "love" with "as you wish"; the interpreter needs to understand the character and environment, that to say that our writer was actually always in the presence of his guy friends and indeed embarassed to mention his love so he uses a substitute phrase "as you wish".
On another point, I am absolutely well now. I am considering running and excercise again. I have put on an excess seven pounds that should be shed(partly out of vanity and partly due to the nature of my health, that I am more prone to heart disease than others).
I have been drumming every day and am considerably more rythmic than ever. It is fun to see how I could be playing actively within the year...and well enough to be considered good too! I often wish that people would not be fearful to pursue their own desires in life. It seems that Christians are often told that they need to pursue only what God wants; the statement is true, very true, but if we find that our delight is in Christ then how far off would our desires be from that? Hmm, that is a good question and the answer is found in the scriptures where we see this: "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." If we delight in him, then he will be our desire and all that comes with that inevitably will reflect it.
I have written too much now and shall save for later.
