Harry Turtledove has written a short story about William Shakespeare seeing a production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. You can read it
here. Best short story I've read in quite some time.
Of course, R&GAD has had a special place in my heart ever since high school, when I did an extra credit project on it for English Lit. Tried to adapt it as a radio play, doing all the sound effects and voices myself. Couldn't do the tragedians' band, so I piped in some Clapton for that, but hey -- I was overstretched. Besides, "Cocaine" got a laugh.
