Title: To Confess or Not To Confess?
Pairing: Yabu Kota/Yaotome Hikaru (YabuHika), slight Yamada Ryosuke/Chinen Yuri (YamaChine) and Inoo Kei/ Takaki Yuya/ Arioka Daiki
Genre: Fluff, Romance, (attempted) Comedy
Summary: Hikaru will move out and Kota is hella confused

Enchanted. The one word Kota can describe how he felt the first time he met Hikaru. Well actually, a preschooler couldn't comprehend such feelings yet. All he knew back then, was that he was dumbfounded when this kid came to him and asked to be his friend after getting pushed around by bullies. The kid stretched out his palm with a toothy grin. Since then, they were inseparable. Being neighbors also helped as they would go and play in each others houses. Eventually, their parents and families also became friends because of them.

Even as they got older, being together was so natural to them. Their presence was an essential aspect in their everyday life. Until they finally decided to live in one apartment when they both got into college. It has been going on like that for a few years. They've always been together. Which is why Kota doesn't know why the heck did Hikaru suddenly decide to move out.

"And?" Yuri, his light haired friend, asked him while chewing on his sandwich.

"That was it, he told me he'd move out by next week!" Kota shrugged.

"And you just nodded?" Yuri raised an eyebrow.

"Well, what else should I do? I don't think I have the right to stop him." Kota sighed.

"But I guess you have the right to ask why?"

"I don't think so. I think I'm invading his privacy."

Yuri scoffed. "Really? After more than ten years together? This is 'invading his privacy' ? Oh please , Kota!" Yuri rolled his eyes.

"This is why I'm asking you! What should I do?"

"Tell him. Talk to him." Yuri waved his sandwich at Kota's direction to stress his words.

"But I don't know what to say! I don't even know why I want to stop him from moving out."

"Dude." Yuri chuckled. "You're an idiot when it comes to your own feelings, huh."

"What?"

"I was just like you. I was so confused why I didn't want Ryosuke to go and transfer to another school. Well, I figured why. And now look at us."

"No… No way." Kota said in almost a whisper.

"Have you ever even considered-"

"Yabu-chan! Is it true Hika is going to move out?" Daiki, another shorter friend of his, interrupted their small meeting at the lunch table as he placed his tray of food down and slid beside Yuri.

"How the hell?" Kota glared at Daiki.

"Woah. Okay. So, I heard this rumor from Chan-"

" Chan ?" Yuri asked confusedly.

"Inoo-chan." Daiki said in a tone where it should've been obvious who he was talking about.

"Well I didn't know you had a pet name for him." Yuri rolled his eyes at Daiki.

"Well about that, I actually think he likes me." Daiki said, shrugging..

"Yeah, no shit." Kota threw his hands in the air.

"What?" Daiki innocently stared at his two friends.

"You really didn't know?" Kota raised his eyebrows in shock.

Daiki only blinked at them as he looked at Kota across him and Yuri beside him.

"Oh sweetie, Inoo-chan can't stop looking at you. Anyway, his body language says it all." Yuri patted Daiki at the back.

"Oh.. ." Daiki replied as he stared at nothing in particular as he remembers Inoo-chan's actions toward him. "But I thought he likes Takaki?"

The three looked at each other for a few moments then Kota and Yuri shrugged.

"He maybe likes you both, we'll never know unless he tells." Yuri replied.

"Yeah, it's Inoo-chan we're talking about here." Kota shrugged.

"Well, it doesn't matter much, I like them both too." Daiki replied.

"Are you suggesting a three-way?" Yuri raised an eyebrow, interested in his friend's reply.

Daiki only hummed questioningly as he shrugged.

"Anyways~ So, the rumor really is true, huh? Hika really will move out?" Daiki asked as he stabbed his juice box with the straw like how just by saying those words can stab Kota's heart.

Weird.

Kota only shrugged and said yes in a small voice.

"What? The Inseparable YabuHika would part?" Daiki scrunched his face in displease.

"Who gave that title to us?" Yabu chuckled with how cheesy it sounded.

"I don't know. I just used it because everyone started using it, too." Daiki shrugged.

"Wait… Everyone?" Kota furrowed his eyebrows.

"Well, not everyone everyone."

"Why? Are people talking about us?"

"Not everyone." Daiki repeated himself.

"Yeah, I got that the first time you said it." Kota nodded at Daiki while rolling his eyes.

"You're seriously asking that? Hika is friends with almost everyone and may I remind you, that he won some national competition of an art contest. Your boyfriend is pretty famous, you know." Yuri said.

"Woah!" Kota leaned back.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Your relationship really is platonic with how you both stick together every chance you get and you both are cohabiting. Completely platonic." Yuri smiled sarcastically.

"Well if you put it that way. But it really is nothing more." Kota pouted at Yuri.

Yuri only rolled his eyes and continued, "Well, if Dai-chan heard it from Inoo-chan, then most probably Hika was the one who told him." Yuri shrugged.

Kota only sighed before he realized what time it was. "Break is over." Kota got up, quickly followed by the other two.

"I'm not done, Kota. I will help you realize." Yuri whispered beside him.

"Realize what?" Kota asked looking over his shoulder.

"You'll know. My class is this way, see you both after school!" Yuri waved at them before he walked in the opposite direction of the hallway.

Hikaru was walking in the hallway thinking about his impulsive attitude. He sighed as he pulled up the sling of his bag before it completely fell.

"Why the long face?" Yuya elbowed Hikaru at the side.

"I was born this way." Hikaru replied, shrugging.

"Oh, come on! You know what I mean!" Yuya rolled his eyes.

"I did it, Yuya. I rented the apartment."

"What? When I specifically said not to? I can't believe you!"

"I can't take it anymore! I can't live with him while I―"

"You what? Hide your feelings?"

"Yes!"

"Well I have one solution for that. Tell him. " Yuya shrugged.

"Bad idea." Hikaru shook his head. "It'll destroy our friendship. For sure."

Yuya scoffed then before he could retaliate they finally met with their friend group. Hikaru quickly ran towards them to escape further judgement from Yuya because of his stupid decision. He does admit it's stupid.

"Heyyyy." Hikaru greeted them as soon as he arrived in front of them. Kota and Hikaru exchanging looks where Kota visibly stiffened as he slightly bowed his head at him. There was an awkward air between them due to the early morning announcement Hikaru dropped. The latter's heart sunk as he realized. It's his fault.

"Where's Dai-chan?" Yuya said catching up to Hikaru.

"Why are you looking for him?" Yuri asked as he narrowed his eyes at Yuya.

"Because… " Yuya raised his eyebrows waiting for Yuri to realize but the latter didn't budge so he continued, "We had a plan to meet with the group after class?"

Yuri's eyes widened as he gaped his mouth, nodding slowly. "Right. Stupid me. Forgot!" Yuri chuckled in embarrassment.

The group exchanged confused looks at Yuri's behavior. Then Kota clarified, "Don't mind him." Kota placed a hand on Yuri's shoulder. "He had a bet whether who'll date Daiki. Yuya..." Kota pointed at the eyebrow-raising-in-disbelief-Yuya then he continued, "... or Inoo-chan."

"Seriously, Chinen?" Yuya crossed his arms in front of his chest. Displeased with the shorter's little game he was playing.

Yuri opened his mouth to explain himself but was quickly interrupted by Hikaru exclaiming, "Yamada! It's good to see you!"

"Ah! Someone finally noticed! Thank you, Hika." Ryosuke bowed at Hikaru smiling at him with an underlying sarcasm.

A few seconds later, they saw the last two of their group members running to them. The taller waving at them enthusiastically while the one who's falling behind him was trying their best to catch up.

"Hey guys!" Yuto, the taller one, grinned at them ever so enthusiastically.

"Hey..." Keito finally caught up. He held Yuto's shoulder while catching his breath, flipping his black fairly long hair away from his face.

"Keito! I love what you did to your hair!" Ryosuke slapped Keito's shoulder, earning a grunt from Keito while smiling at him, mumbling something that surely sounded like a 'Thank you'.

"Well, everybody's here now. Inoo-chan and Dai-chan would not be joining us for dinner but will be following us at the karaoke place." Kota looked at Hikaru out of habit. But quickly turned his gaze away. He doesn't want to admit but he was definitely ignoring Hikaru because he just couldn't stand the thought Yuri planted in his head. He didn't want to think about it yet.

Well, shit. He's ignoring me. Hikaru huffed out a breath before he put the most enthusiastic smile he could muster. "Let's go! Let's start this high school dance group reunion of ours!"

"Just like the old times!" Yuto excitedly clapped his hands as he skipped away first as the others followed.

Kota wanted to walk with Yuri but he and his boyfriend, Ryosuke, quickly entwined hands. He chose to stick beside Keito who raised an eyebrow at him suspiciously but Kota only smiled to which Keito always returns warmly. He knows he'll rise suspicion with him ignoring Hikaru. But he really doesn't want to talk to him right now. Not when his thoughts are still all over the place.

All seven of them had finally arrived at their first destination in a very nostalgic place. It was the restaurant they usually went to when they were still in high school. A wave of feelings quickly hit them as they entered it. The heart warming fact that it didn't change at all. From the florescent lights to the wooden floor. The table that Hikaru had hit so hard that he left a mark was still there. Those frustrating days in their dance group where they were all just exhausted and cranky but too determined to stop and rest. Too passionate to let one single mistake slip. The good old days.

They sat on the table where they usually do, greeted by the chef and owner of the restaurant who they had already befriended. They were all so glad that the old shop owner still remembered them where he even noticed that they were missing two people. They all felt comforted that this part of their memories spent together hasn't changed.

They do see each other occasionally but they were never complete. Today was the chance they could be complete again. So they noticed even the little changes in everyone since they last saw each other. Either in attitude, physically or emotionally. These made them quite lonely as they realized they were all moving on and their dance group has really disbanded. The center of their high school where they dedicated their time and lives was finished and it was time to move forward on to another chapter. But of course, everything was worth it.

In the bottom of each of their hearts, they all felt warm to see this restaurant stayed the same old wooden and cozy one. They enjoyed their meal reminiscing about their high school life together in the same school. Laughing and crying at the memories.

Everyone was all in the reminiscing mode. Everyone except, Kota. He felt quite uncomfortable.

He still didn't want to talk nor think about Hikaru. But when he tries to remember a high school memory Hikaru was always there. Always. He didn't want to start a conversation between them. He finally could pinpoint a label to what he was feeling to which he so proudly whispered secretly to Yuri.

"I feel betrayed." Kota had already leaned forward enough for Yuri and him to have a conversation while Ryosuke is distracted by the arguing he and Yuto was going on about who insulted each other first.

"Of course you will." Yuri whispered back, trying to comfort his friend unnoticeably by patting his knee under the table. "You two spent half of your lives together, even rented an apartment together because you both wanted to be close to each other all the time. Then he drops this crazy news at you so sudden that he didn't even give you time to process it to which in result you two just nodded at each other in acknowledgement!"

"Shhh!" Kota shushed his little friend's mouth as his voice was going louder.

"Sorry. I just am frustrated for the two of you." Yuri sighed.

But before Kota can rebut another argument, Yuri was called by Yuto across the table, leaving Kota once again alone with his thoughts. Zoning out wasn't exactly the thing he's supposed to be doing, he realizes. So instead, he distracted himself by drinking and by extension also eating a lot. Letting the alcohol take control in loosing the tension and finally making him talkative.

By the time they finished eating and was already walking to the nearest karaoke place where they also always went to back in the days, Kota's vision started turning. He was already tipsy. Curse him being lightweight! He gulped as he placed his arm around Keito, hoping the latter wouldn't notice that he was using him so he won't go out of balance and just think he's just being sweet.

"You okay? Do you need water?" Keito asked concernedly, Unfortunately for Kota, his cover was blown.

"What? Yeah! Of course!" He might as well continue with trying his best to get his shit together.

Keito just nodded at him, staring at him with the same concerned eyes but thank god for Kota, Keito didn't make a big deal out of it and instead he placed his arm around Kota's waist now fully assisting him in walking straight. Kota whispered a thank you to Keito who just nodded back at him.

They arrived in their second destination with Kota quickly flopping down on the couch inside the karaoke room. It was dark and cozy. He started getting sleepy and he did want to take a nap because he honestly doesn't even mind the colorful party lights. The loud talking from his friends were actually peaceful to him. Knowing that they'll just be there by his side.

But before he could drift off. Yuri sat beside him, handing him the same big glass of beer Yuri was holding.

"Get it together we're all just starting." Yuri said to Kota as he patted his back.

"Let's sing and drink our hearts out!" Yuto said as he raised his glass of beer followed by all of them, including Kota.

Then they drank their beers, all sighing in contentment. It wasn't long after they were joined by Daiki and Kei. Hugs and greetings were exchanged then they finally started singing.

All was well and good at first, them passing the microphones. Hikaru playing the tambourines. They were all enjoying. Enjoying too much that eventually, they lost track with the number of glasses of beer they had. With their alcohol clouded mind it quickly became just a bunch of college bros singing their stress away and a dancing mess. Pushing, hugging crying, jumping, pulling, laughing mess.

Then, Kota decided to sit down for a while. He could feel the heat in his body and he was still dizzy. Either from his and Daiki's dancing or from the alcohol or both. A bouncing Yuto then came to him with his phone held high, taking a video of how wasted they all were.

"Hi Kota~" He said as he sat beside him, eyes still on the smartphone instead of Kota's. The latter smiled at the camera and waved like they were a bunch of vlogging weirdos.

"So I heard a rumor~ That you~" Yuto pointed at Kota, finally looking at him instead of the smartphone. "No, no, wait!" Yuto retrieved his hand back with Kota's eyes following it like a kitten.

Yuto furrowed his eyebrows, remembering something. "Ah! It was Hika~" He pointed at Hikaru across the room, singing with Yuya and Yuri. "He's going to move away, they say! Is it true?" Yuto reached his fist out near Kota's mouth, looking like he's holding a microphone at him.

Kota stared at Yuto's fist as the words Yuto said struck him. Right. That's why he was getting wasted, to forget about that. After a long pause of Kota just drowning in his thoughts, Yuto retrieved his fist back, snapping Kota back to reality.

"I heard it's time for you to part because one of you is getting married?" Yuto made his best impersonation of a reporter's voice with his drunk ass. He then held his imaginary microphone back to Kota.

Kota's alcohol influenced mind didn't think twice as he blurted out, "Yeah, yeah. I'm getting married!" Kota laughed, pushing Yuto playfully, who was also laughing with him.

Yuto then kept his phone and mumbled about wanting to sing, so he left Kota.

After all the fun they had, they wobbled their ways to get a taxi by groups of where their houses were. Some of them already sobered up including Kota. Although, he hoped that he was still wasted because apparently, him and Hikaru still lives together.

Hikaru and Kota were grouped with Yuri and Ryosuke. Yuya who was assisting Hikaru had passed him to Kota.

"Take care of him." Yuya patted Kota at the shoulder.

Then they waved their goodbyes as they rode the taxi and drove off.

In the taxi, Ryosuke chose to be in the front seat and Hikaru was in the middle of Yuri and Kota at the back seat. Hikaru's head rested on Kota's lap as he slept while occasionally mumbling gibberish words.

"So?" Yuri, who still hasn't sobered up, blurted.

"So?" Kota repeated.

"Ugh! Hika likes you! Isn't it time for you to admit it too?" Yuri raised an eyebrow at him.

"What?!" Kota's head leaned backward in shock of what Yuri just told him. His heart beating loudly at the thought of it. Hikaru like likes him. "Go home, man. You're so drunk." Kota shook his head from side to side, still denying it.

"Look here, bud!" Yuri said in a loud voice making Ryosuke look back as he eyed the two.

"Tone it down, guys. Come on." Ryosuke raised his eyebrows as Kota and Yuri was trying to look innocent.

"He likes you. He told me so. I'm not supposed to be telling you. But I know you like him too." Yuri continued while whispering.

Seeing Yuri whisper made Ryosuke chuckle as he shook his head and went back to sitting properly.

"He told you?" Kota asked, still not believing a single word coming out of his drunk friend's mouth.

"YES!"

"Ssshhh!" Kota reached for Yuri's mouth to cover it but he was quick to evade it with moving his head backwards, causing his head to hit the window. Yuri winced in pain as he stroked the back of his head.

"Oh god." Ryosuke shook his head once more. "I have to take care of that ?" Ryosuke said, his face not matching his tone as he was staring at Yuri endearingly and it honestly touched Kota's heart how deeply he cared for the younger.

Then, Kota looked down on his lap, at the face of the man that he spent his, more or less, entire life with. He felt the same deep sense of wanting to take care of him. To keep Hikaru safe in his arms. To protect him. To be beside him, be there for him. Always . He unconsciously played with Hikaru's hair. Twisting and twirling the tips around his fingers. Then he gingerly kept the stray strands of hair away from Hikaru's forehead as he made sense of what he's feeling for the boy. His friend. His best friend.

After a few corners, they arrived at Kota and Hikaru's shared apartment. Ryosuke helped Kota only up until the door of the building. The younger patted him on the shoulder as he said. "Take care of him." Before he waved goodbye and they parted ways.

Curious. Kota remembered that Yuya said the exact same words Ryosuke did. But from the bottom of his heart, he will take care of him, just like how Hikaru took care of Kota, too.

The next morning, Kota woke up with a throbbing pain on his head. He drank the aspirin he had prepared before he collapsed on his bed last night with much exhaustion. Mentally and physically.

He slowly got out of bed, trying to balance himself, blinking so much so his vision would stop doubling. Then he heard some shifting of things in their kitchen. Kota froze at his door.

So it seems, Hikaru is still here.

Kota sighed. Quite traumatized to face Hikaru in this early morning. What else would he announce to him? I've packed my bags? I'll be moving out right now? I'm moving out because I got sick of you?

Inseparable. Hikaru likes you. I'm moving out.

Kota's mind once again spun with all of the questions he has. The more he thinks about it the more complicated it gets.

"Oh."

Kota jumped a bit, startled by Hikaru's voice interrupting his thoughts.

"Good morning. I prepared peppermint tea. It's on the table. It's good for hangovers." Hikaru said with a smile. And if Kota was still dreaming he really did feel a pinch in his heart.

"Th-thanks." Kota tried his best to give back the smile but his mind was too loud for him to function properly.

"Well, I'll be getting ready. My class starts soon. You too. Don't wanna be late!" Hikaru chuckled as he walked past Kota making him catch Hikaru's strong fragrance from their shampoo then the latter proceeding to his own bedroom closing the door behind him.

Kota let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding. Then proceeded to walk to the kitchen.

His smile. Hikaru's smile. Hikaru.

He'll no longer be able to see that when he moves away.

Kota arrived at their dining table, reaching for the cup of tea with the breakfast prepared for him.

All of this. Would be gone.

He sipped the hot tea, his muscles relaxing as the heat spread through his body.

No one cares for him this much.

"I'm going first." Hikaru called from the hallway to their door.

"Ah, sure." Kota nodded.

" Ittekimasu! " Hikaru grinned at him.

" Itterashai! " Kota grinned back, his eyes disappearing to a thin line.

"Stop daydreaming and get ready already! Don't be late, okay?" Hikaru said as he was wearing his sneakers.

"Yes, yes." Kota smiled fondly as they both waved at each other then Hikaru was out of sight with a shut of the door.

No one knows him this much.

Kota was left in the deafening silence. He slightly shivered as the atmosphere suddenly got cold. He cupped his tea to get some warmth.

I should just get going.

After eating the breakfast Hikaru prepared for him and more contemplation as he prepared to leave, he was finally out of the house and there he walked to the bus station.

When he arrived at the uni, he oddly felt some people staring weirdly at him. Did he have something on his face? He's pretty sure he fixed his hair. His clothes weren't that bad. He looked down while walking in the hallway, feeling insecure as he feels the gazes some students are giving him. Then he felt a pat on his shoulder, causing him to look up at his left.

"Yabu-chan! How are you feeling?" Yuto laughed, and if Kota wasn't wrong, the younger is nervous about something.

"I'm fine." Kota replied, furrowing his eyebrows while squinting.

"You see… There's… uhmm…" Yuto scratched the back of his neck, chuckling.

"What did you do now?" Kota raised an eyebrow at the younger.

"Last night… Uhmmm, we were partying, right? And… uhmm… We got wasted?" Yuto smiled at Kota sheepishly.

Kota only raised both of his eyebrows letting Yuto continue.

Yuto sighed. "Don't get mad at me!"

"I don't even know what to get mad about! Spit it out!"

"Ipostedadrunkvideoofyousayingyouweregettingmarried!" Yuto said in one breath. He breathed out, his eyes avoiding Kota's.

"You… What?!" Kota's eyes opened widely as his eyebrows furrowed more in disbelief.

The loud volume of Kota's voice caught the attention of the other students. Seeming like Kota doesn't give a damn about the people staring, Yuto decided to drag Kota at an empty hallway.

"I'm sorry! I was drunk, too!" Yuto raised both his hands in front of his chest like a shield for the furious Kota.

"That's why some of them were staring at me..." Kota face palmed as he groaned. "Why do you film everything when you're drunk!" Kota said under his breath. "Where did you post that?"

"On my Instagram story… " Yuto said in a small voice.

"It's okay, it'll be gone after 24 hours..." Kota whispered to himself.

"I actually deleted it already… But... "

"But?"

"A lot of people have already viewed it..."

Kota groaned again. "How many?!"

"200 plus give or take. And 75 percent of those are from this university… Some are from our past school." Yuto mumbled. Guilt eating him up.

" Why are you famous!" Kota threw his hands in the air.

"I'm sorry…"

Kota sighed. "It's… Not your fault. Well partially it is. But it doesn't matter anymore!" Kota huffed. "Let's go to our classes." Kota patted Yuto at the shoulder, smiling a little just to assure Yuto that he's not mad at him.

The whole day did not go well for Kota. The annoying curious stares his classmates did, went on for each class. News really do spread fast. He was super tired of denying every single one of the same question. Sometimes really personal ones.

"So you really are gay?"

Kota had recalled as he was walking home by himself since Hikaru said he should go ahead. He scoffed at the question.

He is.

And he doesn't hide it or anything. He just didn't think he needs to "come out" to everyone he meets.

When he arrived at their apartment, he whispered a small 'tadaima' as he was taking his shoes off. He then threw himself on their couch and stared at the ceiling.

Their couch.

Soon it's going to be his couch.

The silence was deafening with him all alone. And his everyday was going to be like that, soon.

When Hikaru moves out.

He just can't comprehend that after all this time, why would Hikaru want to move out now. Did he do something wrong? Say something wrong?

Kota groaned frustratedly as he buried his face on one of the square pillows on the couch.

Meanwhile, Hikaru was finally walking home with his eyes at the clouds as he was accompanied by Yuya.

"What are you planning to do now?"

"I just can't live with him with this feeling anymore, okay? It feels like I'm betraying our friendship. We're friends, Yuya! And he thinks nothing more about me! But I do!" Hikaru threw his hands in the air.

"Why are you putting words in his mouth? You haven't even talked to him about your feelings, yet. How can you be so sure?" Yuya raised an eyebrow at his friend.

"Well.. ." Good point. Hikaru thought, but of course he wouldn't let himself be proven wrong. "We've been together for too long for me to know what goes on in his mind."

"Well it isn't enough." Yuya retorted.

Hikaru groaned. "What, you want me to confess?!" Hikaru stomped his foot in frustration as they both stopped walking at the intersection.

"Yes. Trust me."

Hikaru scoffed. "Fine! I'll try!"

"That's the spirit! Now, contact me if you chickened out and didn't continue and contact me if you did!" Yuya started walking in the opposite direction. "See 'ya!"

Hikaru shook his head as he waved his hand at his friend.

Confess? Goddamn. Hikaru's heart started beating faster as he was getting nearer and nearer to their apartment.

On the other hand, Kota's head was still buried in the pillow. Despite his silence his mind was moving so fast. Scenarios and questions and a lot of those ran around his thoughts.

Is he really going to move out? Was he serious? Maybe it's an April fools prank! But April just came by a few months ago! A late prank? Was it a revenge for the powder in the hair dryer prank he did on him? But he was too serious in telling him! Hikaru's going away. He's definitely going to leave him. Oh god, he's going to loose him! But I don't want him to leave me! What are you going to do, huh? You can't do anything! He already made his decision.

Kota's mind was in flames. He didn't know what to think. Everything was so unclear to him. But then he realized, one thing was for sure. He didn't want Hikaru to go. To leave. He'll hold on to that one certainty he has amidst everything.

Then he was startled as the door in their apartment opened and closed.

He's home… Kota sat up on the couch, peeking at the hallway.

"Oh. Tadaima ." Hikaru smiled at him as he placed his bag down beside the couch and proceeded to drink water in the kitchen.

Kota wasn't able to reply, he only stared at Hikaru as he was trying to sort out what he'd do and say in that situation.

"What's up?" Hikaru asked as he tilted his head innocently at the staring Kota.

The latter blinked as he smiled shyly. "Sorry… I just…"

"Are you going to tell me you're getting married?" Hikaru chuckled. "Well, congrats!" Hikaru grinned at him as he raised his glass of water and drank it all.

Kota was awestruck. Hikaru's chuckle and smile extinguished the flames in his mind. Everything fell quiet and all he could hear was his own heartbeat.

Yup, I'm definitely gay.

"I am getting married." Kota stood up. Grabbing this opportunity because he might not have this much courage ever again. "And I'd love you to be at the wedding." Kota walked closer to Hikaru.

Hikaru took a step backward. Not fully understanding what was happening in front of him. "Oh." Hikaru blinked as he saw that Kota kept getting closer and he didn't have any plans to stop. But there was like another force that was holding him there to where he was standing. His feet went numb and he couldn't move backward nor forward even if Kota was very close already. "A―as your best man?" Hikaru gave a smile. At least he thought he did despite whatever's happening.

"Nope." This is it. Kota took a deep breath before continuing, he knelt down on one knee in front of Hikaru and took his hand. "As my husband." What the frick am I doing?!

Hikaru was stunned. "Wha―I―uhmm…"

Kota's eyes widened as he realized what he just said, caught in the moment. "I mean… Not now. But, you know―my point is," He breathed in, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I can't imagine being with anyone else but you… And uhmm..." Kota stood up, still not letting go of Hikaru's hand in his. "I like you. I like you, like you. Like, like like you―"

"I get it." Hikaru chuckled, letting out a breath. "This is crazy."

"You think?" Kota immediately replied anxiously because he's still expecting Hikaru's answer.

"Well no! Not you but… This... " Hikaru chuckled again, at himself, for not knowing what to say. You know what? Fuck words! Hikaru grabbed Kota's waist and pulled him in his arms, closing the distance between them. Kissing him .

Kota was quite shocked at first. But as he eased in Hikaru's arms, he placed his hand at the back of Hikaru's neck, deepening the kiss. It was amazing. Everything that went in flames inside Kota's mind was being released in the kiss. Their feelings melted into it and everything fell right in their place. Finally.

The heavy burden that was making Hikaru's heart sink was lifted at that very moment. The anxieties, worries, insecurities, all gone.

They only broke the kiss to catch their breaths. Both were panting for air but they still didn't let go of each other. Foreheads touching foreheads. Then, the two understood each other. Just like how they always do without using words.

"Well, all that's left to do is to cancel that reservation I had in the other apartment." Hikaru whispered.

Kota chuckled, pulling his head away to look at Hikaru's face more clearly. "So you really did plan to move out?"

"Yeah. I couldn't handle my swelling feelings for you."

"That's so cheesy."

They both giggled at each other.

"Well I guess we'll be that couple." Hikaru said, smiling playfully. "Aren't we, babe ?" Hikaru wriggled his eyebrows.

"Just shut up, oh my god!" Kota smashed their lips back together. Wanting more of it. He's been wanting this since long ago. Since he discovered himself.

Finally, after years of avoiding and repelling. They both finally accepted and admitted. All is well.
