Things I Like:

JULIAN LODGE

Oh my god, on youtube I stumbled across JFlan's first television appearance, as the smarmy, pompous, utterly adorable Julian Lodge on the (so I am told) otherwise crappy First Monday.  He's a conservative lawyer opposed to verbal bullying and in favor of pursuing rapists' DNA (yeah, I don't know if the show's writers just had no idea what it meant to be conservative, but go figure), who wears a bow tie and alternately sucks up to and asshole-ishly blackmails everyone in the trademark Sheppard drawl, and is so painfully repressed its angst heaven.

Best moments:
* Miguel goes to hit on sexy lawyer.  Julian smirks.*
*Jerry*: Is there something you know that I don't?
*Julian just keeps smirking.  Hint: Lawyer is MtF tranny*

*older sassy librarian*: Sometime I just get the urge to spank Julian....

*Julian, groping for something they have in common*: We're both heterosexual.
*Jerry*: Are you sure?
*Julian blinks, nonplussed, then walks away*

*Julian, talking about "The Secret Strength of Depression*: My mother said it saved her life.  Well, that and her AA sponsor.

And of course, the fandom, which is itsy bitsy teeny tiny, boo.  But it's given us such gems astrinityofone 's Manus Dare, Julian Lodge Is Not Gay, and Five Things Julian Lodge Feels While Getting Fucked, which I view as chronological progression, although of course they aren't. siriaeve  has some great crossovers feature Julian Hewligan, andsandrine  has a couple of Julian/Jerry fics that are nice.  I just can't bring myself to read
yin_again 's Snakes and Lawyers 'verse, because her Julian is so casual about sex.  I kind of feel like the thing that makes Julian so compelling is a feast or famine attitude when it comes to sex, so he's either supressing his sexuality or letting it burst from him in a way that almost freaks him out.

There definitely needs to be more Julian fic out there.  I wish I'd found him before Sweet Charity, I totally would have bought trin or someone and had them write me some, even if it meant leaving a money trail between my slashy online persona and my real life.
