English: I'm gonna kill her. We have a test Friday on poems we only know because groups came up and presented them. Badly. We have to read both books of Utopia by Monday. She's making us write a Rennaicance or Medieval-era "newspaper" with twelve articles, due April 13th. I mean, I love how much she loves the subject, and I love talking to her after class about whatever, but I cannot stand the way she schedules herself. It's been a trend to have a test Friday and a paper/something else large due the next Monday. It's fucking annoying. Her idea is that, well, we do it all the night before it's due anyway, but some of us don't. I mean, if I know the project's big enough I'll obviously start it a few days later. But Utopia is hard, and there's a lot to remember.
Biology: The only reason I'm spazzing about Utopia so much is that there's a Bio test the same day we're being quizzed on it (Monday). I've decided though, that Biology definitely isn't something I need to stress over. I just need to set aside two days out of my week before the test (probably Thursday and Sunday, by the looks of things) to read all three chapters, make my clue sheet Sunday night, and I'm set. I really don't care about this class anymore, honestly. I get to exempt the final if I have a B or above in the class, and right now I've gotten A's on everything. I don't think even failing this next test will make too big a difference in my grade.
Government: I had a test Monday and yesterday. Her tests work like this: the first day, you come in, and you're given three short answer questions. You pick two of em, and you write two paragraphs-ish on each. Then you're given about 12 vocab words or court cases--mostly court cases--and you have to define them and state their importance in 3-4 sentences-ish. Then at the bottom of the test, it will say "tomorrow's essay is about" for example, "the fourth amendment." You come in the next day, she writes a question regarding the fourth amendment on the board (Has the Supreme Court properly protected citizens' fourth amendment rights? Cite court cases). The night before, you make sure you know every single fourth amendment court case on the review sheet, around what year they were, what they did, etc, and you answer the question in a five paragraph essay format. Last time I ended up with an 81 because I got a C on the first part and an A on the second part. I thought I had totally bombed it, so it wasn't that bad.
Last Monday, I knew I totally bullshitted the short answers, but I was fairly sure they were mostly right. And I came out of class on Tuesday jumping cause I TOTALLY ACED THAT ESSAY GUYS. I get my grade back today? D on the first part, B on the second part.
I got a 77.5% with the extra credit. FML.
Time to start paying more attention methinks.
Technology: Complete waste of my life. At least I feel confident using Excel now, but other than that? Complete waste of my life....and I have a 90 in the class. What.
Excluding finals, I only have 24 days of class though. Possibly 23, since I'm not sure if we have this one Friday off or not. That's less than 30 days left of high school. It doesn't even feel like the end of the semester. I'm not even at the point where I'm like "I'm so done with this, just be over already."
I'm not reading as much. I mean, I have other stuff to do, but it's not like I'm actually doing it, and instead of sitting and waiting for people to sign online (which is a rather pathetic, but frequent habit), I could be reading. Luke let me borrow Rapture for the Geeks by Richard Dooling and while it's hilarious and interesting, it's also non-fiction and not particularly grabbing. Max leant me Smoke & Mirrors and Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, so I'm sort of reading Smoke & Mirrors at the same time, when I feel up to it. Which isn't so much. I gotta finish those two by the end of April though, because I don't see Max outside of school. Unless I give them to him at graduation...which is like at the end of June or something. I'll forget. Anyway.
I still need to watch the latest Supernatural. I got spoiled for one part, but that's okay. I'm excited for it. I think I'm gonna do that tonight since I really cannot study when I'm feeling down.
Sorry about the emo posts lately again guys. Nothing's really happening on this end. The only events lately seem to be me getting into a funk for one reason or another.
