It's Saturday night and you know what that means: Daily Show: Global Edition. How I long for my regular dose of Stewart and Colbert. One of the things I miss about home is watching them with Peter sprawled out on the leather couch in his basement while guzzling black Russians (never white Russians, I'm lac-tarded).

I can stomach a bit of the dairy if it's early in the day and my stomach is full, so craving some Dairy Queen and desperately seeking something to do, we went for a long walk to the nearest mall. As it's the weekend, the mall food court was featuring live entertainment. I finished up my khow muu yaang and Oreo Blizzard just as the Thai Elvis impersonator said his final "thank you, thank you very much" and left the stage.

Opening this weekend at the theaters is King Naresuan II, the second in a Thai LOTR-like trilogy based loosely on the history of the Thai king who defeated the Burmese. I've seen the first installment and it featured just as much magic and war elephants at any of the LOTR films, but lacked editing and a story arc. We concluded that we had no interest in seeing it, and so went home to wait for John to come on TV.

We watched "Air America" last night and happened to be enjoying exactly what Mel Gibson was. A 350 mL bottle of Mekong rice whiskey. I also balked at the Lao hill-tribes in the film speaking Thai. I could understand it when they were bargaining.

It's been exactly 5 months since I arrived in Southeast Asia.

Happy Chinese New Year, and I wish everyone a very prosperous year of the pig!
