Despite the gravity suggested in the news, Bangkok is fine (unless you are the PM of Thailand, in which case you are now unemployed and likely not welcome back in Thailand). Today has been declared a national holiday and banks, offices, and schools are closed. The Thais seem very happy and the streets and food stalls are busy with Thais and children. I am staying in a guesthouse above an Indian restaurant on Th Rattburi and a guy had attached a giant photo of the King Bumbiphol and Thai flags to his bicycle and keeps riding up and down the street.
