IT'S NOT APRIL 24 HERE YET.

Apr 23, 2008 16:45

But I'll wish Yamamoto a Happy Birthday anyway, because A) EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING IT, and B) IF I FORGET TO LATER ON, I WILL FEEL GUILTY. Yes, guilty. For not wishing a fictional character a happy birthday. THAT'S JUST HOW IT IS, ALL RIGHT.

Have a meme, snagged from 3radicated and teapoit and several other people.

- Post a list of 25 20 15 fandoms.
- Have your friends list guess your favorite character from each one.
- When guessed, bold the line, include the character name, and write a sentence or... MORE about why you like that character.

1. Katekyo Hitman Reborn! - Gokudera Hayato (guessed by sundial)

There's the contrast between surly!defiant!mode and GAYFOR/LOYALTO!TENTH!mode, which is awesome. There's the fact that he's a bundle of issues--insecurities, family traumas, fears of failure--that are fascinating to watch and fun to play with in fics XD. But mostly, it's that he's so chock full of good traits--smart, eager, devoted, hardworking--that, just... how could you not love him?

2. Naruto - Uchiha Sasuke (guessed by templated)

Mainly, I like him because, for all of the stupid and frustrating things he's done, and for all that he's completely fucked up, he's still damn strong. He has this streak of willpower and defiance in him that's somehow allowed him to keep his sanity through everything, and to hold on to that part of him that's still good (the way that even after three years with Orochimaru, he doesn't kill unless he has to, and so on). That, and I adore his relationship with Team 7 (and Team Hebi too).

3. Bleach - Asano Keigo (guessed by teapoit)

Because he's retarded and HILARIOUS, and also because when you get right down to it, he's a really good friend. I love the scene where he's watching Ikkaku's fight and Yumichika explains why he won't interfere, and Keigo is just all, D: Because even though he's kinda FUCKING TERRIFIED, he still just can't get why someone wouldn't help their friend. Anyway, that scene endeared him to me and ever since then I have loved him.

4. One Piece - Sanji (guessed by morphaileffect)

Not only is he smart and sexy and badass and hilarious (<3 love cook), he's also basically a WALKING DEUS EX MACHINA. How many times has he disappeared during an arc only to reappear JUST in the nick of time to save everyone's butts somehow? GO MR. PRINCE. (Somehow this paragraph is shorter than all the others. I guess my reasons for liking Sanji are pretty uncomplicated. XD)

5. Fullmetal Alchemist - Edward Elric (guessed by teapoit)

Ed is one of the only characters I can think of who was my favorite right from the start, and then stayed that way. I love his relationship with Al and how determined he is to get his body back; I love how he's a bratty genius but still basically a sweetheart; I love how he IS A SHRIMP because it never fails to amuse me when he flips out over it; and I love his angst because it breaks my heart. ;_; OH ED.

6. Death Note - Yagami Light (guessed by teapoit)

For lack of a better explanation, I like Light because he's fucked up from here to tomorrow. He's a manipulative psychopath and the most arrogant sunnuvabitch on the planet; his god complex is SO BIG that he acts like he's infallible--until something goes really wrong, at which point he panics to a hilarious degree. But all of that makes him fascinating, because despite those flaws he's also utterly brilliant, not to mention tenacious as hell. He's a character you just can't take your eyes off of; you just have to see what he'll do next.

7. Phoenix Wright - Miles Edgeworth (guessed by teapoit)

IT'S EDGEWORTH. At first I liked him because he was froofy and hilarious; then he got a tragic past and I just kinda fell in love with him. He has that sort of grudgingly-nice-guy quality that's endlessly endearing. And I love the way he works together with Phoenix, because they're an awesome team.

8. Azumanga Daioh
9. Inuyasha

10. Avatar: The Last Airbender - Zuko (guessed by xshoutitloudx)

First of all, he's cute and endearing and a COMPLETE DORK. And second, his whole inner struggle between his loyalties to his family and his deep-deep-down-understanding-of-what's-actually-right-and-wrong is just completely engrossing. I am a sucker for characters with lots of INNER TURMOIL and WHAT IS MY DESTINY, and he has that in spades (and then he overcomes it, which just seals the deal). WIN.

11. Harry Potter - Ron Weasley (guessed by templated)

Ron is not especially smart or strong or talented at anything that I can think of. He's kind of in over his head a lot, simply because his best friend happens to be THE CHOSEN ONE and the target of like every bad and/or insane thing that happens in the wizarding world EVER. And yet--he puts up with it, and he stands by Harry through thick and thin (well, mostly). He's just amazingly loyal, and brave in the way that enables one to, say, stand up to a crazed Sirius Black despite a BROKEN LEG, and tell him that if he wants Harry he'll have to go through him first. And that is BADASS.

12. Firefly - River Tam (guessed by morphaileffect)

I think she's an amazing character; even as broken as she is, she's still brilliant and beautiful. And when she finally starts putting the pieces together again--with Simon's help, and I should add that their relationship is one of my favorite parts of the show--she kicks ass. No power in the 'verse, indeed.

13. Lost

14. House - Gregory House (guessed by teapoit)

Brilliant, sarcastic asshole-with-a-chip-on-his-shoulder who secretly has a heart of gold... but only sometimes. Maybe. Anyway, I like House for the same reasons that everyone likes House: because Hugh Laurie is a brilliant actor and because the character is layered like a metaphorical onion in which the outer layers are made of a jackass with the maturity of a 12-year-old, and hidden deep within the innermost layers are the starved remains of what MIGHT just be an actual soul. DEEP DEEP DOWN. ...GJ House. XD

15. Heroes - Noah Bennet (guessed by 3radicated)

Some people say that Noah has no superpowers. They are wrong. Clearly he has the superpower of being a COMPLETE BADASS. ALL THE TIME. Like, if it was Noah vs. Jack Bauer, I'D PUT MY MONEY ON NOAH, because he'd find some awesome way to win. And the reason why he is such a badass? He wants to protect his family. His level of devotion is amazing; he would literally do anything to keep them safe. (Let me tell you, I've seen the end of "Company Man" like five times, and it always breaks my heart.) So I love him because he is an AMAZING BADASS DEVOTED FATHER and did I mention he was really badass? XD

THAT IS THE LIST. HAVE AT?
