a/n: i blame koalaspice. and corn.

'chili and lime, please.'

minho quickly pays for his cup of corn and half runs, half walks to the nearest standing table. in his rush to hurry up and eat, however, he doesn't notice that there's someone at the table already until he's spilled half the corn all over her hair.

he starts to try and help her by picking some of the corn out, but stops and turns a violent shade of orange when he notices everyone else turning to stare.
he opens his mouth to either apologize or offer to help again, he hasn't decided yet, but whatever words were about to come out die and become a strangled crowing sound when he hears her mutter 'all this good corn, just gone to waste. the nerve of some people.'

the awkward noise turns into a muffled cough as the girl whips her head around in surprise, which quickly turns to indignation as she snaps, 'what?'

minho, momentarily transfixed at the sight of small yellow specks of corn flying out of the girl's blue-gray hair, can feel himself turning that nasty orange again as he looks away, mutters 'nothing' and busies himself with eating his own food.

the next few minutes are spent in a highly uncomfortable silence where minho thinks about why he even came here in the first place and that it's all taemin's fault for talking about corn all day in the practice hall when suddenly the girl gets up to leave.
he doesn't really pay much attention until for some reason (he wonders why things like this happen to him, he really does) he looks up randomly and sees one lonely kernel still stuck in her hair as she passes by.

'excuse me, but i think you have something in your hair' is what he wants to say, but in between not quite having finished chewing and the speed with which the girl walks by, it ends up as more a 'erkrff--' with corn flying everywhere from his mouth and landing all over her face and hair.

the girl stops walking and turns to stare blankly at him, corn stuck to her cheek and mouth gaping open.

minho is quite sure he wants to crawl into a hole and die now, and he's also pretty sure that she knows this too as she starts spluttering and her face turns this odd red-purple color that he's positive he's only seen on a paint swatch before.
for some reason, though, instead of the usual blustering apologies and flailing gestures, he bursts out laughing as he takes in the sight before him.

she stops, completely confused now, as he doubles over, tears streaming down his cheeks.

'i'm--i'm sorry, it's just--' is all he manages to wheeze out before he starts crying from laughter again.

maybe it was that she understood the situation, maybe it was the sight of him, he still doesn't know, but her lips start to twitch too, followed by a small chuckle which rapidly progresses to outright shrieking laughter that does nothing but make him laugh harder.

a short while and many more stares later, after they've both calmed down enough, minho hesitantly offers the girl a few napkins.

she gives him a small smile and a mumbled thanks as she takes the proffered napkins and proceeds to wipe her face and hair off for the second time that day.

'so--um--i'm sorry,' he begins as she quickly responds, 'no, no, it's all right, these things--okay, well they don't usually happen, but--"

he grins at her. 'no, i guess they don't, do they?'
