let's do this.

2 completely random and unrelated topics for tonight.

so let's go.

what i did this weekend

so, almost all day friday and saturday there was no power in the hostel. the warden just kind of randomly left and put that whore sherin in charge of the damn place and so obviously nothing was done about it. nobody was telling us what was going on, either, so we basically spent the whole two days sweating our asses off. D:

finally, someone told us that saturday afternoon there's be power again. until then, i took my laptop to radiology to charge the battery (i love the people there sfm you have no idea). when i got back i asked hima and lily if they'd heard anything about the power, they told me that the power wouldn't even come back on sunday.

i heard that and i was like "OK THAT'S IT" and then i got an idea.

tina's place has power.
tina's place has a kitchen.
tina's place is in kochi.
= really far away from the hostel.

so i ran to my sister's room and pitched the idea to her and tina, and we lied and said we were going to our uncle's and barely caught the train in time.
oh, yeah, and since we're genius medical students and all, we realized that we couldn't leave tiffani's turtle behind, so we packed him up and brought him with us.

that train ride involved forcing tina to listen to a lot of kpop, tina's head in my crotch half the time cos there was no space, and almost everyone else standing around us staring at poor tiffani holding that turtle.

we got there and then managed to get to tina's apartment.

there is no greater joy than standing under the A/C vent after walking around in hundred-degree weather for two days.

then, since we were in kochi and everything, tina was all like 'hay let's go out an eat' and we were like '...k ^_^' so we went to the chinese restaurant out at manorama junction and it made me SO FUCKING HAPPY because it was actually decent food and not the let's-cover-this-shit-with-batter-and-soy-sauce-and-call-it-manchurian that i've been eating for god know how long.

i don't really remember much else about dinner and afterwards except that i started singing 'single ladies' in the middle of the restaurant, and on our way to the grocery store in the dark tina just screamed out 'O HEY I LOOK STRAIGHT' and then grabbed my ass.

...yeah. idek either.

then we went and bought food for breakfast and all the fixings for

BHEL PURI (which is like one of my favorite snacks evar)

and we went home and i made it but it didn't turn out as good as i hoped :\ i overcooked the potatoes so it kinda got all mashed.
or as they say here, smashed.
as in smashed potatoes.
lol so hard whenever i order it in a restaurant
then we watched a little mtv and went about our separate ways.

in the morning, tina helped me cook and we made an epic mushroom, tomato and cheese omelette and french toast and it was amazing. then we kinda hurried and packed and almost forgot about lunch. pizza didn't come until 12:30 and then we just got even later after that, so we wound up having to take the bus back to tiruvalla.
let it be known that despite their claims, KSRTC buses do NOT have seats wide enough to seat 3 slightly larger than average (read: not stick-like at all) malayalee females. we just sat all cramped up in the seat for three and a half hours scared that the damn turtle would fly out of the bucket and die.
but, hey, at least we got seats this time.
came back and HEY THE POWER WAS BACK :D.

...and that's the end of my super-duper weekend.

i've kinda basically decided what i want to do ifwhen i finish MBBS.
i want to be a radiologist.
there.
i said it.
this is the first time i'm saying this on the internet because i have a crazy jealous cousin that always feels the need to do better than me, and whenever she asks me i just kinda beat around the bush and change the topic because i know if i tell her this she'll just go and do radiology too because she can be a bitch like that. and since she's on my facebook and twitter i'mma just say it here because she doesn't know i have a new journal. and i'm not telling her. kekeke.

anyway, the problem is that it's really, really hard to get into a good radiology program in the US.

like, you need a 99% on the USMLE to even be considered for a program.
no lie.

so i've been looking at other countries and south korea actually popped up among other winning choices such as australia and germany.
in any country i go to, i'd still have to write the licensing exams there and pass well to practice or even think about specializing. but apparently south korea passed a law a few years ago stating that foreign doctors can practice there without writing their licensing exam, but they can only treat citizens of the country where they obtained their medical license.

basically, in a backhanded, kinda racist way, i can practice in korea while i struggle to learn enough korean to attempt their exam.
but hey, that's a step up from...well, basically everywhere else. i mean, at least i can put my degree to some use and not wind up like my cousin's husband who's an orthopedic surgeon and working as a cashier in walgreen's. D:

problem is, my parents will probably kill me. LOL.
i brought the idea up once before.
my dad was all 'omg no knowing your damn luck north korea will choose that time to nuke south korea' and i was just like '...>:|'

that's all.

tl;dr:
1. i had a good weekend.
2. i'mma go be a doctor in korea :D

and now i'm going to watch sunao ni narenakute before i go to bed because i have stupid stupid ENT rotation in the morning. it's just one of those subjects that's actually quite easy, but by sheer stupidity of half the teaching staff, seems damn near impossible to understand. smh.
