[Police Filter]So, I've jus' spoken with this bloke. Says 'e's called Gabriel Sylar. Accordin' to 'im, 'e committed assault on three different people three week ago. First two got off all right... cuts, bruises. Didn't sound like nothin' you wouldn't get smackin' your face off the pavement when you get pissed ( Read more... )

Do we really want to use a mentally unstable murderer as a snitch?

Didn't know he were a murderer when I spoke to 'im, did I?

But if 'e is mentally unstable, there's no way we can send 'im down anyway. Best we can do is speak to 'im, see 'ow much 'elp 'e'd really be, then ship 'im off to the funny farm when 'e's no use t'us anymore.

I should amend my statement. Alleged murderer - from Justin's information. Still, I'm not inclined to believe in coincidences. If someone with the same name had been committing murders before, and this one's prone to assault? I say they're the same person.

Victims being unwilling to press charges isn't a sign of faith. It's a sign of fear of worse consequences were they to step up.

Regardless, we're not having the best luck with cases as it is. Let me know how the interview goes?

Seems likely 'e is. Not exactly a common name, is it?

You think I don't know that? It isn't about 'ow much faith we 'ave in 'im; it's about checks an' balances. Sometimes you need to get one bastard on side to get more collars.

Yeah, sure. Chris'll prob'ly make a tape, or take notes, or sommat. He likes doin' that.

Not at all - in fact, it's fairly creepy.

I'm just talking out the case. I don't mean to encroach, I'm just bucking up against the wall on mine at the moment.

Thanks, I appreciate that.

I wouldn't say creepy. Jus' seems like a poofs name, is all.

Oh. Right. You weren't... encroaching. [A pause there, because Ray has no idea what that means. And he might possibly be refraining from making a crude comment about 'bucking against the wall'. >.>]

No trouble, sweet'eart.

A...poofs name?

Good. I don't want you to think I'm trying to get in on your case. I guess it's hard not to overlap due to the City's small size.

It's Beckett. [This would be her B| face, if he could see it.]

Yeah... You know, name for fairies. Queers, an' that.

'Appens even in big cities. Wouldn't worry about your encroachin', or whatever.

All right, luv. Beckett. No need t'get your knickers in a twist.

Right.

My knick-- nothing's in a twist, I assure you. We are spectacularly untwisty.

[A snort, because he has a sneaky suspicion going to her desk would earn him a slap in the face.]

Maybe later, sweet'eart. Bit busy workin' at the moment.

[Well, he's not as derpy as he looks. Brownie points for Ray!]

It's Beckett. And that's probably a good choice.
