2008 Toy Drive for the Children Served by Moveable Feast Wraps Up THIS SUNDAY
Our annual toy drive for the children served by Moveable Feast is wrapping up this weekend and will end on Sunday, Dec 21st. Please visit www.MFeast.org and make on online tax-deductible donation designated “In Honor of the 2008 Toy Drive”. Your support will be used to brighten the holidays of about 150 children whose families are in need and living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging conditions like breast cancer.
You may also drop off a new, unwrapped toy or a monetary donation at the Club Phoenix at 1 W. Biddle St in Mt Vernon, PowerXchange by Nina at 1724 Aliceanna St in Fells Point, Textur Hair Salon at 1830 York Rd in Lutherville, Chained Desires at 136 W. Read St in Mt Vernon and The Crucible in Washington, DC. We thank these businesses, as well as Play House Studios in Mt Vernon and the Annapolis Munch Group, for being collection points for our area wide toy drive.
Toys and books will also be collected during the BESS Holiday Dinner and KINKY GIFT EXCHANGE this Wednesday, December 17th. Please bring a wrapped kinky gift (between $10-$20) to be exchanged with a fellow kinkster. We will enjoy an evening of festivities, games, and warm holiday cheer. A buffet will be served at only $15 per person, including pizza, hot wings and other tasty treats! This is also GREAT time to drop off your toys and/or books for the kids served by Moveable Feast.***IMPORTANT: Please RSVP to education@bess-md.org, so that theycan give the restaurant a head-count prior to the party!*** Time: 7:30pm-??? Location: Pebbles Pub - Security Blvd. and Rolling Road Baltimore MD 21207
Or you may drop off your donations at The Crucible (www.the-crucible.com) during any event there this week including the Eat and Beat this Wednesday and the BR/Crucible Workshop Series and BR Night at The Crucible this Saturday.
There have already been some very nice donations as members of our communities encourage folks they work with, folks at their favorite coffee shop and their own families to participate. A special thank you to Jessi HolmanAhart, IMsL 2005 and Patty B from the Play House Staff who do a great job organizing their workplaces for this project. We also wouldn’t be nearly as successful as we have been for the last few years without the support of Alric, Frazier and the staff of The Crucible; the wonderful people from KatNoir.com; the attendees of the Mr. Maryland Leather Contest and the Board of Directors and Members of BESS - the Baltimore Educational & Social Society (www.BESS-MD.org).
But, as the economy has impacted everyone’s life this fall, the number of toys and books donated so far is below last year’s levels and there are more children in need than ever. Please consider purchasing a toy or book and dropping it off at one of the wonderful places listed above.
Or even easier, with no traffic snarls at the mall, just go online to donate via the secure Moveable Feast website (www.MFeast.org) to make YOUR tax-deductible donation TODAY. All donations will be greatly appreciated. $5 to $15 will buy a present for a young child and $20 - $30 will make an older child feel special this year. And $100 will show an entire family that the holiday spirit is alive and well in our community. Please don't forget to designate your online donation, "In Honor of the 2008 Toy Drive".
This effort is supported every year by the incredibly generous BDSM/leather/fetish communities of Baltimore and Washington, DC and our friends and families. Please help us spread holiday cheer by forwarding this information to your peeps and by posting it to any e-lists/groups where it would be appropriate and welcome.
Thank You so very, very much and best wishes for happy holidays this winter,
Glenda and Levi
