The 10 Songs Meme
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.
01. Take Me Away - Lifehouse
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Ueda wasn’t supposed to find comfort when they held hands, wasn’t supposed to get weak in the knees when he ran his fingers through his hair, wasn’t supposed to grab his shirt by the collar and press their bodies closer, closer, when he advanced to kiss him up against the wall.
He wasn’t supposed to fall this hard, this sudden, but when Taguchi held his shaky hands, told him that he’d break his every fall, told him that he loved him more than anything else in the world, Ueda felt every ounce of fear in his body begin to subside.
02. Secret Eyes - ARASHI
Apparently, Ueda had the deepest, most mysterious eyes Aiba Masaki has ever seen.
“They’re almost unreadable. Very danger!” The Cartoon KAT-TUN guest cried out and KAT-TUN chortled in agreement, except for Taguchi who couldn’t quite relate because he had always been able to read Ueda’s eyes just fine.
03. Samurai Blues - Kanjani 8
Ueda hated watching samurai movies. Contrary to popular belief, blood and gore weren’t his cup of tea (although he did find some battle scenes pretty cool).
Some guy in heavy-looking clothing just finished beheading what seemed like ten people, blood and human goo spattering uninvitingly all over the screen. Ueda didn’t think he could take any of it any longer and was just about to leave his spot on the couch when Taguchi slid a hand around his head and covered his eyes, pulling him close to his chest before wrapping his arms around his shoulders, tight and firm and protective, as if the samurais could jump out of the screen anytime and steal Ueda away.
Ueda eased into the gesture and decided that samurai movies weren’t really so bad after all.
04. SPECIAL HAPPINESS - KAT-TUN (Kamenashi & Taguchi duet)
Ueda loved Kame, he really did, and he knew perfectly well that Kame loved him just as much. Ueda knew Kame wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize their friendship but every time he sang SPECIAL HAPPINESS with Taguchi, Ueda felt a shooting pain of spiteful jealousy each time.
He had always thought the song was beautiful but he didn’t think it sounded quite right when Taguchi sang it with somebody else. Ueda felt like it was a song meant for him when Taguchi would grasp his hand and look him straight in the eye when they would get to that part of rehearsals, singing all the while, voice raw and unpracticed but beautiful all the same.
A few months later, Ueda found Taguchi’s lyricbook lying around on their apartment floor, and when he flipped it open and leafed through the pages, he caught his name scrawled next to my special happiness and a few unedited lyrics, a heart scribbled messily just beside the Tatsuya.
05. The Tin Man Gets His Heart - Tokyo Rose
Once, Ueda had a dream that his entire body was made of metal, joined together by nothing but rusty, copper wires. The only thing he was capable of doing was walk until he got tired, and he had no idea what it felt like to love and be loved, didn’t even know what the word meant.
Until Taguchi came into his life, and since then, he has stopped having such dreams.
He wasn’t a tin man anymore.
He was golden.
06. Calling You - Blue October
There were some things Taguchi just couldn't quite explain.
How Ueda’s laughter could be so ridiculously contagious, why his pulse quickened every time Ueda came near, why he always found an overwhelming amount of solace in watching Ueda sleep, chest rising and falling in a hypnotic rhythm, lips moist and slightly parted. Taguchi pondered on what Ueda could be dreaming of, why he had that tiny smile on his sleeping face bathed by faint, silver moonlight.
And out of nothing but pure curiosity, Taguchi reached out to grab Ueda’s hand and when he felt Ueda squeeze back, he stopped wondering altogether, because it felt right, and that was the only thing that mattered.
07. Under Pressure (Cover) - My Chemical Romance & The Used
Ueda appears tough and composed but inside he's falling apart like a straw house in the middle of a storm. It's only five minutes before they go live and his nerves aren't getting any calmer. Ueda feels a hand slip into his but his eyes remain fixed on the hoard of screaming monsters outside. The grip on his hand further tightens, but it doesn't hurt, instead loosens the knots in his nerves one by one.
“Work hard, Uepi!” Taguchi chrips from where he's standing, just right beside him.
Ueda nods with renewed vigor. Now, he’s ready.
08. Cherish - NEWS
It had become a part of Taguchi’s daily routine to remind Ueda how beautiful he was. “You look good today, Uepi,” he would greet with a smile and brush Ueda’s hair away from his eyes, softly kissing the sides of his mouth. Ueda would only pelt Taguchi’s arm away and murmur in false irritation but allow his lips to curve into an unguarded smile anyway.
09. Sweetness - Jimmy Eat World
Taguchi loved sweets, no matter what the shape, no matter what the size.
Ueda, on the other hand, absolutely despised them and when Taguchi kicked the door open, barely able to see with the mountain of chocolate in his arms, Ueda all but rolled his eyes. “What are you planning to do with all that?”
Jin perked up. “Oh, I know! You could smear it all over his-”
“I meant wholesome.”
Jin rolled his eyes and watched as Taguchi thoughtlessly wolfed the chocolates down one by one. (What a waste, Jin thought. He had way better plans.) Ueda absolutely hated sweets, and whenever Taguchi would try to get him to have some, he would just stubbornly close his mouth, and Taguchi would smear chocolate all over those tightly-pursed lips until Ueda gave up. Then they would end up kissing each other, and Ueda would sink down against the couch, Taguchi resting comfortably between his legs, smearing chocolate all over Ueda’s mouth, Ueda’s jaw, Ueda’s cheeks, Ueda’s neck, until he was at least half-covered so that Taguchi could lick the sweet, sticky temptation right off of his skin later on.
Jin, who had been wordlessly watching, took it as his cue to head for the door, a goofy grin forming on his lips when he thought he’d heard Ueda moan a little from inside. Now that’s what I’m talking about, he thought, making sure he locked the door before he left.
10. The Ocean - Mae
Ueda likes to listen to the sound of the ocean while the shoreline breeze blows past his hair. Taguchi likes to take him down to midnight strolls and kiss him by the seaside until the sun came up. It’s a habit they’ll never grow out of, an infinite cycle they’ll never get tired off, with just the ocean and each other, lips crashing in time with the waves breaking against the sand-beautiful, timeless, perfect.
End.
