I would like everyone to know that yesterday, I provided for my lucky family, brats. In the style of Milwaukee.

And without offending anyone, they were the best brats I've ever had. I think because the sausages themselves were really fresh, and minimally processed, with minimal additives (no offense, Johnsonville). But the beer I used to simmer them was probably the best beer in the world. My dad made it. It was this really full bodied belgian ale that's been waiting for our consumption for a year now. Apparently a little aging works for beer too. I didn't know that.

But holy smokes, Wisconsinites. This Texas girl makes a mean bratwurst.
