[Arcueid had gone over to but the newlyweds, but had found an unexpected surprise when she had gone to their house. Instead of that idiot Shiki and his cute new little wife...she found only drones. She had known Shiki had been here for a rather long time, and she was happy to see that he had gone back home, but...he'd left

You'll get to meet tons and tons of people, and go to places you've never been to, and have new experiences each and every day... Just because they have to go soon doesn't mean you have to be sad about them forever. Sure you get lonely, but the bad stuff always comes after the good stuff. And just because there's a lot of bad stuff doesn't mean the good stuff doesn't mean as much. If you just keep your chin up and keep moving, the good stuff will happen, and soon you'll have lots of good memories, too. Then maybe life and love won't be as meaningless as you think.

I mean, aren't those what make us happy?

[ She looks at her own drawing, proud of it. ]

[Arcueid just stares at Taiwan for a long moment. The woman had such a happy and hopeful view of the world...not unlike her own when she wasn't feeling emotionally crushed. Huh.

She then finally steals a look at the drawing Taiwan had been working on, and really can't stifle a reaction at it.]

W-wow! You really just drew that??

[hwamei]

Oh, this? [ She hugs her sketchbook, hiding the drawing from Arcueid. ] Yeah, um - ah, I was going to give it to you, but if it's not very good, then...

No...it was amazing.

You're really good at that.

[hwamei]

[ Tugs on a lock of her hair. ] Thank you!

[ So she figures it's alright to take the page out of the book and give it to Arcueid. ]

Um, here. I dunno what you're going through and I know it's none of my business, but I hope you feel better...

[Arcueid gingerly takes the drawing and looks at it...wondering if this is how other people see her most of the time. She was supposed to be a monster...not a smiling...pretty looking thing. She wonders for a brief moment if this is how Shiki saw her, before immediately pushing the thought from her mind for the time being.]

Th-thank you. I guess...I'll just look at it whenever I feel upset.

Hehe, I hope I see you smile for real next time!

I'm Taiwan. [ Someone here can recognize voices on the phone, though it might be because Arcueid sounded so happy that one time. ]

[Arcueid can't help but smile at that comment. It's not as happy as the smile in the drawing...but it's still a smile.]

Oh, you're one of those country people too?

[hwamei]

[That smile cheers Taiwan up. She replies enthusiastically.]

Uh huh! A lot of people know about us. I'm pretty young myself, you know. I'm only more than three hundred years old!

Oh...then I guess I'm older than the country of Taiwan, then.

Anyway...this was really nice. Thank you.

[Tears begin to stream down Arcueid's face as she looks at the drawing. She's still smiling, at least.]

You're welcome! [ Taiwan has met many peculiar characters well older than her, so this doesn't faze her. ]

When we start losing hope, it'll all be over, you know. We need all the hope we can get to win against this town. I know we can do it.

[ She gets up from the bench. ]

Well, I have to go back soon. Will I see you here tomorrow?

Um...if you want to, I could be here?

I like company! I'll see you then.

[Starts walking backwards.]

Oh yeah! What do I call you?

Oh...you can call me Arcueid.

My last name is hard to pronounce so you can just call me that.

... Ah! The one I talked to on the phone? [ Some things made sense now. ]

Probably, yea.

[To be honest, she didn't recognize Taiwan's voice at all. She was too excited at the time.]
