Shiny happy Sticky One
Loki asked me at this quarter's Feri training what I really wanted. "Don't think about it. Just answer off the top of your head."
"I want to go camping. I want to grab a tent and go off by myself."
I haven't yet managed the by myself part, but I am getting outdoor time in and my Fetch couldn't be happier. eye_of_zohar and I spent three days in Big Basin under the cool, cool redwoods in a secluded spot that a Park employee dubbed the "honeymoon suite". We did an ambitious 12-mile hike to Berry Creek Falls that left me creaky for a couple days following, but I'm so glad to have pushed myself. Getting stronger. I like this a lot.
My friend MT also yearns to be out under the big trees, but doesn't want to camp alone, so she and I are setting aside some time in early August to escape into the Mendocino forests.
Inland is dry and hot, even in the shade. EOZ and I attempted a hike on Mt. Diablo Sunday afternoon and were battling torpor and sloth every step of the way. (We won, and treated ourselves to a nice fish dinner with a crisp Alsatian wine and organic strawberries marinated in Grand Marnier.)
I am done with school for a while (give or take a gym class this summer) and so it's time to assess where I am. Feed my wanderlust. Re-examine my practice. Devote time to love and flirtation. Take up abandoned projects - or decide to let them go.
