There is a new girl at work who really irks the hell out of me. I think she reminds me of myself. Except she sucks at her job and I am awesome at mine. I was thinking about trying to be nicer to her but then I saw how slow she is and meh.... I guess I will try. I don't know. I hate getting to know people and then they end up quitting, which she probably will.
I was watching random YouTube videos and listening to old Don Henley songs when I found one for In a New York Minute. You know, "In a New York minute (ooooh-oooh-oooh-ooh) / Everything can change"? And it was a 9/11 tribute video! You can't make a tribute video to a cheesy '80s song!
That prompted me to try and think of the worst possible song to make a 9/11-related video to and I decided it would be the Facts of Life theme song. "Then suddenly you're finding out the facts of life are all about yoooooooou. Yoou-ooh-ooh-ooh!"
It's posts like these I'm glad no one reads this journal anymore.
I am finishing (well, half-way through) with my 27th book of the year (not counting rereads, obv.): Ellen Foster, by Kaye Gibbons. It's really good. I stole it from the floor next to my sister's bed. After this I'm reading Dick van Dyke's autobiography. He dedicated it to his children for teaching him everything he knows about love. I thought that was very sweet, even if his kids are badly named (Barry, Carrie, and two others I can't think of now. Stacy, maybe?).
I wish Natalie Portman would announce her damn son's name already. If it's something disappointing I'm going to be very depressed. Marion Cotillard named her son Marcel, which I would like a lot more if it hadn't been ruined by that contestant on Top Chef.
