I'm just going to put this out there. I have rock stars for friends. Yes, it's true. And by "rock star," I'm not necessarily referring to their ability to play a sweet guitar solo that will melt your face off. No... more like... the kind of people who will stop in several times when you're sick to make sure you're all right, even if it means exposing themselves to heinous germs. Or the kind of people who actually stay with you all day, going through four movies and endless cups of Dr. Pepper and bowls of bland foods that later end up in the toilet anyway. The kind of people who insist on taking you to the urgent care clinic in the middle of the night. The kind of boyfriend who stays with you in the check-up room and watches you throw up in a giant red bowl. And somehow he still loves you at the end of the night.
The kind of people who possibly care more about your well-being than you yourself do.
Yesterday was easily up there in "worst days of my life" category. Seemingly endless pain, no sleep, and hours spent hunched over a toilet bowl. But I learned that people can be awesome and worth your trust. I learned to appreciate those countless days when my body isn't slave to a nasty virus. I re-affirmed my belief that Dr. Pepper can cure just about anything.
And today, I'm hoping that with enough Oust, no one else will have to learn these lessons in quite the same way as I did.
dr. pepper,
nasty virus,
rock stars
