G) Please explain further your reasons for applying for this character: Every character I app for I've been shamelessly enabled toward by someone, in this case Gavin and Michelle most notably. This is what happens when people send me scads of mid-eighties Teen Titans comics.
That said, I think I have a good sense of Joseph's personality and I'd very much like to take on the challenge of playing a character with only rare instances of dialogue and usually none at all. I'd really like to have him interact with the older group of characters alot - the five founding titans, Gar, Cyborg, Raven the people he was initially familiar with when he started out in the comics before the whole Hunt unpleasantness. I would also LOVE to have him connect with Rose at some point.
Joseph is 'dead' as far as Nation canon is concerned so we would have to run a plot to bring him back into the mix. This will involve a certain amount of reworking events that happened after The Hunt. What I'd like to do, ideally, would be to run a re-introduction plot wherein rather than being trapped as a part of Slade Joseph's consciousness was lost and fractured inside the computer systems in Titan's tower.
Cyborg post-Hunt was catatonic due to the damage he suffered, then he merged with some AI moon which eventually set off the Technis thing and reformed the Titans. What if part of the problem was the Joey lept into Vic? Vic was damaged so a good place to hide. During the Technis period Joey escaped into the systems at Titan's Tower and their related networks.
He's now been trapped for years, his self fractured by transferring into an inorganic 'body' and Azarath's corruption, trying to make sense of the workings of the computer system and find a way to communicate.
Re-introducing him would involve him finally finding away to make small parts of the systems obey him. Joey starts to send messages through the computers. E-mails appear that get filed as spam full of nothing but JJJJJJJJJJ over and over. Text files opened with nothing written in them. And finally short messages over riding other programs. "J. I'm here."
However, as this has been happening, the Calculator has been making a new attempt at hacking Oracle's system and Joey's interference with the system has been the one thing throwing off his carefully calculated plan to breech the defenses. As the Titans are finally realizing the meaning of the messages they're getting Calculator isolates Joey's consciousness from the system and forcibly removes him onto a storage drive - leaving Azarath's corruption behind and seperate from Joey for the first time in ages. The corruption immediately starts wreaking havoc on the systems, Calculator has Joey (and will very likely involve Slade in things once he realizes what he's got his hands on)... que villain chasing, teammate rescuing chaos.
Obviously such a plot is big, involves many players in varying capacities and is best hashed out in detail with all involved so there can be changes made so that the whole thing suits everyone's taste as much as possible and fits with existing plots, but I think it would be a really fun way to bring an old character back to new so to speak.
Obviously, though, I'm open to other ideas if this one turns out to be unsuitable for whatever reason.
H) Sample Post:
She's got a totally enchanting laugh.
Most people that can sing that well do, but even within that context it's notable. Joseph had felt that it might be a long-shot to just up and send her a drink when she settled at the bar after her set, but after the way she looked at him from the stage, that one-moment eternity when their eyes met... It would have been a waste not to take the chance.
And now she's sitting next to him, a little tipsy and smiling, trying to remember the bit of ASL she learned in her first year of college. He can hear her and she knows it (and her finger spelling is atrocious) but he's seen worse and she's having fun trying things out from his side, even if they're trading text-messages every so often to clarify. An hour and half of silence except for her laughter and it's still a completely engrossing conversation.
Maria. She lives here now but grew up in Minnesota. Had a band for a while but left them to sing solo because her drummer was a jerk... He's running through the mental repertoire of what he's learned in the last 90 minutes and thinking about where to take her if she says yes when he invites her to leave with him. So far the park is ranking high on the list because she's describing trees near her home in St. Cloud with possibly the best ad-libbed hand gesture for 'climb' he's ever seen.
Joseph lets her finish explaining herself, laughing without a sound when she mocks out cracking her arm against the side of the table and finally says aloud, "Long story short, I was in a cast for eight weeks."
He takes her wrist in his hand and stretches her arm out, walking his fingers up along the line of her pulse as he examines her skin. Then he holds up his own hand to show her the light scarring on his knuckles.
Maria shakes her head. "Scars? No. But I've been weaker with that arm ever since."
Joseph smiles and drags his fingers back down her arm before threading them between hers. He nods toward the door, meeting her eyes and not breaking the gaze. His smile is a question in itself.
And she laughs that gorgeous laugh again when she says yes.
