Last Monday
+ Japanese Theatre teacher asked me to move my presentation back by over a week
Last Tuesday
+ Finished my application for Photo Editor and handed it in 20 minutes before the deadline
+ or - Application ended up being over 5,000 words long, 9.5 pages
+ Picked out fancy suit for Alex
Last Thursday
+ Photographed my first assignment for the paper since March 6th: high schoolers gathering at the elementary school to open a 7-year-old time capsule
- Photos turned out pretty crappy
+ Photo ran dominant on page 3
Last Friday
+ Kevin (General Manager of the DTH) said he hoped I got hired as Photo Editor and would put in a good word for me
+ GOT HIRED AS PHOTO EDITOR!!!!!!
+ Alli (next year's Editor-in-Chief) loved my long application; said it was one of the best she received and that she really appreciated all the work I put into it even though I knew I would probably be the only one applying (and I was)
+ 2 classes canceled, dazed out through recitation section
+ Returned to newsroom after class to find an e-mail saying I had received a scholarship/award from the Journalism school!
+ Napped on the newsroom couch
+ DTH Staffer Appreciation Day: Photo Desk had the most staff show up (unheard of), lots of good free food, and kickball at the park!
- Allergies acted up like crazy
+ Saw Allie sing in the Cadence Show!!
+ Cheese fries at Linda's with DTH people
+ Began and ended the day cuddled up with Alex
- Got absolutely no work done
Yesterday
- Only got one paragraph written for one of the 10-page papers
- Dance partner forgot we were practicing
+ Went to PROM with Alex: he's been student teaching at Orange High School, so we went for the free food, high school awkwardness, and so he could show me off (it was adorable)
- Rained for prom, just like my last 2 proms
+ Rented License to Wed with Alex
- Passed out not even halfway through movie and got angry when Alex tried to wake me up
Today
- Woke up with barely any recollection of being angry or going to bed
+ Alex thought it was funny
+ Breadmen's with Alex
- Paid for Breadmen's
+ and - Alex may have let an "I love you" slip when joking....not sure if he noticed it or thought anything of it since it was meant to be a joke
+ Photographed two more couples for my portrait series, both easy and quick, photos came out great
- Had to use the cheap lights
+ Practice tango and swing for my dance finals this week
- Monsoon outside
+ and - Have to go see Reefer Madness play at 8:30, which will be fun, but I don't really have time to see it
- Need to write up 1 page review each for 2 different events (one if Reefer Madness)
- Probably won't sleep so I can get a lot done on my research papers
- Don't get to sleep with Alex
+ Sending out applications for Assistant Photo Editor
- No time to make application, but must get it done
- No time to celebrate 4/20!!!
- Procrastinating like mad by writing this entry
Tomorrow
+ Dance tango for one dance final, probably get dressed up for it
- Event reviews due
+ Journalism Awards Ceremony, 4pm: I find out what scholarship/award I got! Hopefully it includes moneys
- Probably not sleep again so I can almost finish my research papers
Tuesday
- Final Photojournal due, and I haven't been taking photos all month..also don't have time to put it together
- Photo Night: Usually an event I enjoy, but I won't be able to attend because I need to work on papers...and it's required for class
+ No DTH prebudget
- Definitely no sleeping since the two 10-page papers are due Wednesday
Wednesday
- Two 10-page papers due....fuck.
+ Dance swing for second dance final, dress up
+ and - Last prebudget shift of the year! Sara (next year's managing editor) will probably shadow me to find out what we do
+ Hopefully receive all assistant applications and start interviews Thursday
+ Hopefully sleep over Alex's
Thursday
- Portrait series, small systems assignment, final portfolio, and extra credit projects due in photo class: no time to put any of it together
- Wake up early from Alex's to go work on photo crap
+ Probably no DTH budget since Friday is the Year in Review paper
- Write 5-page paper on book I don't have time to read
- Put together presentation on theatre paper
Friday
- 5-page paper due
- Present theatre paper
+ Meet with other newly hired editors to discuss plans and goals
+ Slugfest, if I even get to go
+ Hopefully choose assistants
+ DTH banquet: drunken debauchery, speeches, and love
+ Hopefully bring Alex to banquet to meet everyone
- Probably scare Alex away at banquet with all drunk crazy editors
+ Last day of classes

+ Dive party

+ No finals, more free time than I'll know what to do with
- Must write three short essays for Japanese classes

+ Drive back to NC, move into apartment
+ Begin intense preparations for DTH
And so is my life.
I find it interesting that most of the things before Today are pluses....goes to show that the human mind blocks out the less appealing memories!
