feeling nostalgic about Chicago

Jan 19, 2010 14:30

Dear husband darted off to Chicago on business last night.  He said it took him an hour to get thru the security line at the Denver airport. They did not allow any liquid in the bottles larger than 3 oz, and other "suspicious" items including a few days supply of medication had to be put in a small plastic bag.  People were complaining, as they were on the verge of missing their flights.  I had a hunch that something like that might happen, so I dropped him off at the airport an hour and a half before the flight.  Still, he made it to the waiting area just 5 minutes before the boarding started...

His meetings in Chicago did not start today until 12.00pm, so he was planning to walk around the downtown, visiting old haunts.  I wish I went with him, but his trip is only for a day, and I don't have may miles left.   I haven't gotten my annual Chicago fix in December, so now I miss the city.

P.S. Oh, and my dear MIL send me the sweetest, nicest b-day card I think I've ever received, with my annual Xmas gift enclosed (a Waterford Crystal decoration which she gets from the Water tower store).  She also called to wish me a very happy birthday, while my own parents did not.  Life is strange...
