Haven't posted lately. I've just been so sick. I caught a really bad flu a few weeks ago, I was sick for a week, weak and wobbly, and then I thought I was over it. I had a free night at Planet Hollywood (a hotel/casino on the Las Vegas Strip) and spent the night there. When I woke up I was violently ill. I made it home (I hate taking the bus in 110 weather) and slept for a full day, and stayed in bed all the next. The next day I had to go to work, but I got so sick about an hour and a half in that they had to call in an EMT to help me. She said between the heat exhaustion and the possibility of a new flu that's going around when my immune system is still recovering from the last one, it just hit me. And hit me hard. They gave me the rest of that day and all of the next off. I went back to work for a day, felt okay, but then the next day I felt so drained that I just couldn't do it. I took the day off after two hours that day, and I've been in bed for the last four days. And I still don't feel great! Hell, maybe I've spent too much time in bed at this point. I just wish I felt better when I got up. I've got a three day week at work this time. Hopefully it's not too much for me to handle.
Let's see, now that I've bitched a bit, let's see what I've got to say that's good: The free trip to Planet Hollywood was fun. One of the benefits of working in the casino industry is that I get free rooms at our properties from time to time. We took over Planet Hollywood (formally the Aladdin) a few months back, so we got rooms so we could take a look around. They upgraded me for free to a mini-suite. It was nice, gorgeous view, I just wish the oversized tub had been a jacuzzi. What sort of hotel does a full renovation, puts in a giant tub that should fit at least three people, and not put jets in it? That's my only real complaint though. It was a pretty room. And I don't think anything there is what actually made me sick, so I'd recommend the place, even if they weren't part of my company.
I got a Kindle recently! Yay! I love having so much info on my one little pad. I won't completely give up "real" books, but I've spent too much money on books that turned out to be complete crap lately, so at least now I can just delete them instead of wasting space on my shelves. Right now I'm reading the first Sookie Stackhouse vampire book, if only because I sort of want to start watching "True Blood" and I wanted to start with the books (even if I hear they diverge greatly after a certain point) first. Not bad, so far. I don't love them (yet) as much as I do LKH's Anita Blake books, but they're not what I thought they were either. Anybody else a fan? I'm just about done with this one, according to my Kindle. Not sure what to read next. Maybe the second book.
We're trying to buy a car. Not having much luck yet. I just can't handle 110, waiting for the bus, and it's not much better at night. I'll have to learn to drive too. Wish me luck and stay off the streets *LOL*
